This place is the closest that anyone can get to finding heaven on earth. As one walks in, one cannot stamp out the aromatic aromas of the freshest baked bread, the tenderest stewed meats and a plethora of mini ecstasy’s even if one wanted to. I’ve only tried the Birria so I can only comment on that. The Birria is a meandering lullaby of exquisite craftsmanship and love. The meat can be sucked apart, it’s that tender. The stew it marinates in is the perfect complexion of tomatoes for the acidity, carrots for the sweetness and the divine marbling that’s been rendered with the stew where one can taste the hours and skill it took to create. This place is a must try, please try this place.

Another nice Mexican spot here in Lake Forest. Hand made tortillas, you can also just buy the masa to make the tortillas.
Lots of different kinds of sweet beads, drinks, and Mexican desserts.
Lots of parking. Staff was friendly and helpful. We did had a few questions.
It was a good experience. Good atmosphere!

I went this morning, 20 December 2025. I bought tamales, 3, by the way, I’m Mexican, and these tamales are the worst I ever tasted nasty. Do a better job representing Mexican tamales, please.**********(

El Molino de Oro is an absolute gem for both delectable baked goods and enticing hot offerings. The tamales, in particular, stand out with their exceptional quality, justifying the price point. However, brace yourself for potential challenges in parking as the plaza tends to get crowded. The staff, though, is remarkably friendly and accommodating. It’s worth noting that proficiency in Spanish can be beneficial for smoother interactions.
Despite the potential language barrier, their helpful and welcoming attitude adds to the charm of the place. As someone who appreciates a convenient panaderia experience, I’ll undoubtedly revisit El Molino de Oro for its delightful offerings. Just be prepared for the crowds and consider brushing up on your Spanish for an enhanced experience.

Excellent Mexican bakery. Everything is fresh huge and the prices are so low. Got like 8 different bakeries and a fresh beet/carrot/orange juice for less than $10! While not refined (expected) everything tasted really good. They are also very nice and friendly. So if you’re looking for something big and tasty that is the place to be. It is a shame there is no place to sit down. maybe have a table or 2 outside?

This used to be a great spot. I think the problem is they got too popular, and the service & Quality went way downhill. Service was terrible (rude people). Food was very dry and lacking. Bathrooms were filthy. It has all the signs of an owner who doesn’t care anymore. I wouldn’t support this place.

What A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Went in today to buy a rosca de Reyes and was bewildered at what I got. The display ones looked delicious and pretty to the eye but what I got was nothing to what I saw. The candied fruit rinds looked to have been just thrown onto the rosca with no care at all. The rosca was also squished and flat. I had called the store to see what could have been done about it and they had the worst customer service. They just yelled at me over and over again. This was my first and last time ever buying a rosca from here

I came here for some pastries. Everything looks delicious! I haven’t tried most of the selection but the cheese bread is my favorite.

They take your order fast they don’t take the time to double and check your order. I am sure they do the same thing with the food. My daughter found 2 hairs on her tamales. I got a green pork tamale and green chicken tamale. I asked for a #4, and they could’ve said there’s no more chilaquiles. And she never gave a receipt and didn’t even say thank you she just gave the food and said next on line, I was gonna add a champurrado on my order but she didn’t say can I get something else.
