We brought our family of 6 to Copeland’s for dinner, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! The atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a large family gathering.
The Food Highlights:
The Main Meals: Everything we ordered was amazingly flavorful. The Copeland’s Burger was juicy and hit the spot, and the Chicken Alfredo was rich, creamy, and cooked to perfection.
The Famous Biscuits: You cannot skip these! They were so soft and flaky they literally melted in our mouths.
The Drinks: Their sweet tea is absolutely to die for—easily some of the best we’ve ever had.
Service & Vibe:
The service was good and handled our large party with ease. We felt right at home the entire time. If you’re looking for a place where the food is consistently delicious and the vibe is just right, this is it!
Favorite dish: Jambalaya Pasta & those incredible biscuits.
The food did not disappoint.
The gator was cooked perfectly.
Food presentation was very nice.
Service was slow, but it was quite busy.
Overall we had a good experience.
And the crab cakes? Absolutely awful. They were packed with tiny, rubbery shrimp that had no business being there. This is Jacksonville, where Mayport shrimp are local pride — but apparently Copeland’s missed that memo.
Service was fine, but nothing could save the food. For the prices they charge, this was a total disappointment. There are too many good restaurants in town to settle for this.
Stay away from the gumbo unless you like a lot of crawfish in it.
Bottom line: skip it — the menu sounds fancy, but what hits your table doesn’t live up to the hype.
When I called to complain, I was told to bring the food back the next day to receive a replacement. That is not acceptable — I shouldn’t have to return inedible food just to get the quality meal I already paid for.
For the price, I expected fresh, flavorful food and better customer service. This experience left me very unsatisfied, and I truly hope Copeland’s improves the quality of their to-go orders and how they handle customer concerns.
I’m 32 years old and the last time I had Copeland’s before this visit… I was SIXTEEN. I used to go to the Maryland location back in the day until they shut it down, then life happened, I moved states, and boom no Copeland’s anywhere near me. For years, all I had were memories. Jazzy Wings memories specifically. I didn’t even order anything else back then. Just wings and vibes.
Fast forward to now, I walk into the Jacksonville FL location and immediately knew my food was about to be GREAT… and I mean Tony the Tiger “they’re GRRREAT” great. The young lady who sat me looked like Cooking With Kya from TikTok, so spiritually I already felt fed before the menu touched my hands.
Then comes my waitress Abby. When I tell you she treated me like a celebrity that just sat down quietly and didn’t want attention. Elite service. I was halfway through my sweet tea and she already brought another one. I didn’t even get the chance to THINK about a refill. She had me tapping out on sweet tea for the first time in my life. Legendary behavior.
I ordered the Jazzy Wings obviously because you don’t come here to experiment… and I added the honey butter biscuits because I kept hearing whispers. Let me tell you something very serious. I’ve eaten a LOT of biscuits in my 32 years on this earth. Church events. Cookouts. Auntie kitchens. Random gas stations that swear they homemade.
These biscuits?
This was the Japanese A5 Wagyu of biscuits.
Softer than cotton candy. Buttery. Dangerous. I don’t even think they should be legal. If biscuits had a luxury section, these would be roped off with security.
The Jazzy Wings were still hitting exactly like I remembered, which is rare.
If I had Keith Lee money, I would’ve tipped everybody in that place $10,000 just off respect. Copeland’s didn’t just serve food, they unlocked a core memory.
I’m mad I don’t live closer… but I WILL be back.
