We ordered the Brussels sprouts, Jalapeño, cornbread and chili as an appetizer.
The brussels sprouts were absolutely delicious! They had the right amount of sweetness, along with a savory flavor. The jalapeño cornbread was served in a massive Texas cast-iron dish. They also gave us honey, butter, and pimento cheese to go with the cornbread. We really liked the chili, it was common Texas chili… No beans 🙂
For dinner my son had the kids smash burger with mixed fruit, I had the Caesar salad with steak and my husband had the Scallops with corn risotto. My son devoured the smash burger and the fruit was very fresh! My husband said that the scallops were cooked to perfection and he loved the risotto and said that the flavor was on point. My salad was really good! Also, my steak was a perfect medium cook!
For dessert my son’s kids meal came with a free dessert so he got a scoop of ice cream. I ordered the key lime crème brûlée. I am so upset that I did not take a picture of the crème brûlée, because it was so beautiful, but the picture does no justice to the taste! That is by far the best crème brûlée I have ever had! Because it was my husband‘s birthday, he got a free dessert and they gave him two cupcakes with a chocolate “ Happy birthday” piece in the middle.
The atmosphere in this restaurant was great for a perfect quiet night out. We had had a long day and we’re happy that this restaurant was not super loud. They even had a live performer there, but it did not overtake the sound in the restaurant.
Our waiter was outstanding! I feel bad that I cannot remember his name right now, but not only the server, but the older gentleman who was bringing out our food was also very courteous! We also got some good drinks to go with our meal, the bartender there was great!
Our bartender, KD, was genuinely impressive — inventive without being over-the-top, and every drink was smooth, balanced, and downright delicious. You can tell there’s real skill behind the bar.
Adding to the charm was a solo guitarist providing the perfect soundtrack to the evening. It elevated the entire experience without overpowering conversation.
I’ve had my fair share of pimento dips, but this one? Easily the best I’ve ever tasted. Creamy, smoky, with just the right kick — absolutely addictive.
An ideal spot for a relaxed night out with quality drinks, excellent big and small plates, and ambiance that makes you want to linger.
The hostesses were warm and welcoming, and the waitstaff was fantastic. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we returned for a second visit during our stay. We follow a gluten-free diet, and while the menu had a limited number of options, everything we tried was absolutely delicious.
On our second visit, our waiter, Brahim, was exceptional. He made us feel genuinely welcome, not only at the restaurant, but in San Antonio as a whole. His attentiveness and hospitality made a great experience even more memorable. We would absolutely return and highly recommend this restaurant.
We decided to give it another shot the next morning for breakfast, and I’m glad we did. The food was fresh and flavorful—especially the avocado-topped omelet with roasted veggies and the crisp salad with grilled corn and radish. We also enjoyed a refreshing bowl of fruit, and the view by the river added to the relaxing vibe.
Service was fine, but a little more transparency or flexibility around seating would go a long way in improving the guest experience.
On a positive note, the service was a highlight. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they even provided a special celebratory dish for our anniversary, which was a nice touch. However, one of the main drawbacks of this restaurant is the pricing. The cost of the dishes felt quite high compared to the quantity and quality of the food offered, which did not seem to provide good value for the money spent.
In summary, while there was nothing terribly wrong with the dining experience, it didn’t stand out either. The attentive service and special anniversary dish were appreciated, but overall, it was a mixed experience.
They accommodated dairy allergy with ease.
