I usually go to the Ha Long Bay in St.Pete and love that place for their food. I wish I could say the same here. Obviously seeing the name I was excited to come in and eat the same quality of food. Unfortunately the meal I had, Pho, Thai Tea, Strawberry Milk, and Juicy Crab Dimsum all very disappointing. The Thai Tea was very watery with no sweetness or classic Thai flavor at all and the Strawberry Milk was so watery too. The Pho was bland and noodles were stuck to the bottom of the bowl like it was pre-froze. The juicy crab Dimsum was actually not too bad… but for the price… that’s definitely a no no. All the items also were high priced (around $7 for the drinks and the Juicy crab Dimsum was $8ish for 3 knuckle sized bites) the pho was expected as priced which was fine but the quality of the items was quite the letdown. The service of the place isn’t too friendly either which is again fine for me but for anyone expecting to be checked on for refills or anything be expected to grab them yourself. I did not even pay for this meal myself so that definitely affected my review (Total around $45 with tip) if I did pay for this meal, this would’ve received a 2 star from me for sure. I hope others will find this place better than I did and I will be sticking the Ha Long Bay in St.Pete.
The dim sum was good. I really love their custard bun since it was really warm, sweet, and fluffy. The chicken feet sauce is very sweet and perfectly cooked. The bbq bao bun meat is dry and not a lot of sauce. The shumai is delicious with a lot of filling. The shrimp dumpling tasted a bit old. The BBQ steamed bun is good.
For entree, I ordered the Wonton Soup with Egg noodles was delicious and the soup is very warming. The BBQ pork with the wonton soup is dry, but the consistency of the egg noodle soup is good. The Kid’s chicken pho broth is delicious, but the chicken pieces are hard/dry. The bun bo hue was okay. The BBH soup has good seasoning but isn’t spicy. It was okay.
Overall, if you’re craving for Vietnamese food in Wesley Chapel/Lutz area, this place is okay. The service was alright.
