As with Trattoria Nervosa in Yorkville, Janet Zuccarini has meshed a passion for creating memorable food with a vision for delivering soulful, transporting dining experiences. We put as much care and consideration into our food and drink as we do our architecture and design. Located in a repurposed garage in the heart of downtown Toronto, our restaurant has become a neighbourhood gathering place. Had heard a lot about Gusto 101 and finally made it there for lunch to try their Winterlicious menu, mainly because of their famous Mafalde ai Funghi—and it absolutely lived up to the hype.
We started with Misticanza and Arancini. The arancini was delicious—crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful inside. For mains, it had to be the Mafalde ai Funghi and a Margherita pizza. The Mafalde ai Funghi was oh my god, completely out of this world—hands down the best pasta I’ve ever had. The pizza was also really good, with a perfectly thin crust that didn’t feel heavy at all.
We paired everything with a glass of house wine, which complemented the meal beautifully. For dessert, we tried the Tiramisù, which was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet, while the cannoli was just okay in comparison.
Overall, it was a very good experience—generous portions, warm and smiling staff, and a cozy, romantic setting made even better by the weather outside. Definitely a place I’d go back to again

Ordered the Mafalde ai Funghi and the Tagliatelle al Ragu di Manzo. Both were very tasteful, rich, and cooked perfectly.
That said, $28 for pasta is a bit bold for the portion size. Delicious yes. Generous no.
Ambience is great though, especially on the rooftop. Overall a good spot, just be ready for downtown pricing.

Gusto 101 absolutely lived up to the hype. We ordered the mushroom pizza that everyone raves about, and it did not disappoint—rich, creamy, and packed with incredible flavour. The handmade pasta was cooked to perfection, clearly fresh and done right.
We also had bread and additional pizza for the table, both of which were fantastic and perfect for sharing. The calamari was delicious—light, well-seasoned, and not greasy at all.
For mains, we ordered the veal Parmesan, and it was massive—in the best way. Flattened exactly the way it should be, perfectly cooked, and so good I ate it right down to the bone and finished the entire plate.
The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and our server was attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. Overall, an outstanding meal from start to finish. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Had a really good experience at Gusto 101. The food was the highlight — full of flavor, generous portions, and beautifully plated. You can tell they prioritize quality ingredients and preparation.
We ordered the arancini, mafalde al funghi, calamarata con gamberi, and the margherita pizza — everything was delicious and well executed.
The only drawback was that the seating felt a bit tight and close together, which made it slightly less comfortable, especially during busy times. Aside from that, it’s a great spot with excellent food, and I’d definitely recommend it.

I really liked eating at this restaurant. The food was very good. They have a winter deal where you get an appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert , for a price of 35 .
I got arancini for my appetizer, a burger for my main dish, and tiramisu for dessert. The burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I liked that it was not smashed and was cooked just the way I like it. My friends got pizza and pasta, and they liked their food too.
Our server was very kind and attentive. He kept refilling our water and made sure we were doing well throughout the meal.

It was a decent experience dining at Gusto 101. We were walking downtown with my family and came across this restaurant.
This was not super kids-friendly as they have no small cutlery or a nutrient menu for kids.
We were given a high stool and table which was not suitable for kids, however it was because we hadn’t booked any tables earlier.
The receptionist and staff were nice, but the menu was not flexible; I requested to add chicken into my daughter’s pasta, and they refused to do so.
Desert was good, Tiramisu was delicious and authentic recipe. Almond desert was also delicious, however it was a bit stale.

The food here is amazing!! Everything I had just kept getting better and better as they came out. The homemade focaccia was perfect, the calamari was probably the best I’ve had in a while, the sweet potatoes were a dream and with that brown butter (yum!), the octopus was my absolute favorite!!! If you like a little spice, don’t miss out on this. And the pasta was superb I loved that lots of items were homemade. The house wine was very good and a dollar an oz made it even better lol I will be back to try more off that menu!
If you’re looking for a small cozy setting, this is it. Make a reservation because it gets pretty busy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bartenders kept us entertained with great conversations. Highly recommend Gusto 101!! I hear they are expanding too 🙂

My husband and I visited this place in the summer. We didn’t love our cocktails, but our meals were hot and were delicious. It was a particularly hot day outside, so we chose to sit inside hoping it would be cooler, though it wasn’t much cooler with the windows open. That said, we still had a very enjoyable experience overall.

I had a really enjoyable experience at Gusto 101. The warm atmosphere makes itself felt the moment you walk through the door. The pastas are truly excellent; the portions are generous and the flavours are well balanced. The cocktail and wine list is extensive. The service was generally quick and attentive, although there can be a bit of a wait during busy hours. Prices are reasonable by Toronto standards; considering the quality and ambiance, it’s well worth it. Overall, I would highly recommend Gusto 101 to anyone looking for delicious Italian food and a great atmosphere.

We dined at the restaurant last night and ordered two different pasta and a pizza. While the pasta had a slightly undercooked texture, it was flavorful and enjoyable. The pizza, on the other hand, was average and did not stand out among other options. The restaurant was quite busy and crowded, which may have affected the overall dining experience. Nevertheless, it was good to experience the atmosphere, and I appreciate the hustle and energy of the establishment. I would consider returning, perhaps to try different menu.
