The place was clean, decor simple, colors bright and happy, and the staff bubbly at the counter and actually excited as people entered the establishment. A few locals were ahead of me and were greeted fondly as they ordered their mainstays. While I browsed the menu, the cook/chef actually came to the front and chatted me up, answering just about all the questions I had about the menu. He genuinely displayed excitement about the ingredients and explained his methods in great detail, which as someone in the culinary world can truly appreciate.
After starting my order in the kitchen, he actually came back out to my table to double check if I wanted my food to come out together as well as if I had any other preferences to spice levels. He really showed me true hospitality that I have once again never associated with a seafood shack.
But the best part? The food itself tasted sublime…blew my mind in the moment at how something this simple when prepared with care could be this good. First, the oil wasn’t old and overused like most shacks I’ve been too. The fried fish and clams basket tasted clean and highlighted the ingredient as a result, which further showcased just how fresh it was. The lobster topped clam chowder (the “fluffy” being warmed lobster in butter) was tonguegasmic. The onion rings were perfectly moist and crispy. And the shrimp? Perfectly seasoned. Even the side sauces were done so well. There were no shortcuts made here today and that was obvious.
I’m salivating as I finish writing this review and can’t wait to drive back up again soon to visit them again! Definitely recommend this spot any day!
We will definitely be back!
First impression-yay there are cute picnic tables inside, and I’m terribly sad about the winter, this will help me pretend I’m back on the beach ravenously ripping lobster legs off their gross yet delicious bodies. The heat was also blasting in there and it was so cozy and warm. Very cute. Very clean. Very in line with my delusions.
Then I ordered the fluffy clam chowder. Oh my god. Lobster on top, fluffy delicious inside. This was so unique and yummy with a lot of lobster. My son had the crab cakes, those were also good.
And the service. Wow. Just wow. The guy working around the restaurant (maybe owner? Seemed like it) was extremely accommodating and friendly. He brought my son a warm cookie, on the house, and he even brought over a live lobster and let him pet it. He was so outgoing and kind that it truly made my day.
I never leave reviews because I’m a busy toddler mom but this one has been burning in my head since we visited. 5 stars is not enough.
Crab cakes were crispy and visual chunks of crab inside every bit had amazing flavor and texture
The scallops were divine smooth and soft like butter not over cooked at all and actual quality scallops hand cut fries were amazing and handmade coleslaw is always a favorite of mine thanks yall
