Only complaint would be on the tostada & salsa appetizer. Not much value there at $4.50, and they’re a little stingy with the salsa, though they bring 3 types. I’ve always been one for sharing a larger bowl of salsa, and I don’t like having to keep asking the server to bring more.
The service was spot-on, and everything we ordered came quickly. I’ll definitely come back and try some other menu items!

It’s kind of disappointing because we were happy with the food, but we ended up with surprises in our bill. Specifically we ordered the fajitas which were listed for $13.90 for lunch and when the bill came they changed us $25. We asked if this was correct and they said that we don’t do the lunch fajitas on Saturday and also there is a extra $5 for mixing beef and ship. None of this was mentioned to us when we placed the order. We thought we missed this in the menu so we paid, left a good tip and when our way.
As I’m writing this review, I double checked the menu photos and there is no note about lunch prices not being valid on the weekend (you can even place an order online for the lunch price). I’m fine if the price is $25 just make it clear in the menu so that there aren’t surprises when the bill comes.
Another issue is that the toilet in the mens room has no door.
Other than that, the food was good overall, papa loca could have a bit more meat in my opinion. Service was good outside of the pricing issue, the atmosphere was pretty relaxed.
The Carbon Mexican Steakhouse is a great place to experience a bit of Mexican food and a bit of classic steak entrées. This restaurant is what I consider to a hidden gem because it is literally hidden in a shopping center where you would not expect. It is about 10 mins from the Port Orchard waterfront and not near any desirable businesses shopping, etc., aside from a gas station and a commercial truck driver license school.
The food is very good. The portions are worth mentioning as most single entrées can be shared between two people. Cocktails are decent and affordable. The prices for food are a bit on the expensive though. While the food tastes and looks yummy, the prices seem a bit inflated. The food is well decorated and seemingly made fresh per order. Service can be a bit, inpatient from my experience. My group and I felt that the waitresses forced us to order food before fully reviewing the menu options. The waitresses were helpful nonetheless.
The parking situation during dinner times on the weekend does not seem like an issue, however I can foresee parking being a problem during lunch hours and/or when the other businesses are open in the shopping center.
The interior is designed appropriately for the price. Very new and clean looking, not the typical Azteca type Mexican restaurant.
Overall, a wonderful place for dinner, dates, and lounging.
I’m also on a low carb diet, and there were PLENTY of menu choices that I didn’t have to skimp out on! I was very happy!
On my first visit I ordered the Tacos de Pulpo with a Victoria beer. Three blue corn tortillas heaped with tender octopus and filling that are drizzled in lime. Served on the side are rojo and verde salsas, along with a finely diced pico. These are tacos that should be savored and eaten slowly. Each bite is exquisite.
On my second visit I brought my wonderful wife.
Laurie ordered chicken tamales and according to her they were “the best I’ve ever had.” I tried a bite; yes, VERY good. I’ll order that next time, along with elote.
I ordered stuffed jalapeno peppers with cream cheese and bacon. Incredible. My main course was asado tacos wrapped in cactus leaf. I can’t express how good they are. Stuffed so full, these could easily be four tacos. And once again, delicious rojo, verde salsas and pico de gallo.
I can’t wait to come again. I’ll try everything on the menu.
