Reviews
The restaurant is nestled in a plaza right off Savoy Drive, making it a convenient and low-key spot. The food is truly delicious. As someone who enjoys this cuisine, the Tom Yum Soup stood out immediately. It’s filled with both shrimp and chicken, bursting with flavor, and the small portion is generously sized and a great value.
Naga Bistro also offers $13.99 lunch specials, which include soup or salad and an entrée such as pad thai, panang curry, spicy basil, laap, wings, or stuffed wings. Each lunch special is thoughtfully paired with a slice of orange and a fried roll, which adds a nice finishing touch.
The ambiance is quaint and modern, with options for bar seating or dining tables suitable for both small and larger groups. I also tried the Thai coffee. While it wasn’t as strong as I’m used to, it was still enjoyable and nicely balanced.
The staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. Since the food is prepared fresh, there can be a bit of a wait, but honestly, good things take time and it’s well worth it. I also appreciated the curated playlist, which really enhanced the overall vibe during each visit.
One thing that truly impressed me was the consistency. The beautiful presentation I received while dining in was matched by the same care and quality when ordering through Uber Eats, which isn’t always easy to achieve.
Overall, Naga Bistro delivers delicious food, warm service, and a comfortable atmosphere, making it a spot I’ll continue to return to and recommend.
All the food was fresh and delicious!
We ordered the roti, fried pork belly laap,
Thum, and Sai kok. We also ordered a side of the sticky rice.
I personally would recommend the Thum, laap and sai kok. But will definitely come back to try more dishes.
The quality was superb, and everything was a flavor bomb. Our staple dish to order is always the papaya salad, and it was consistent with what we know from Snackboxe. We really enjoyed the clams– the tamarind sauce that went with it was addictive!
Great place for sharing plates. The staff and service was very welcoming.
While most places play it safe with “fusion,” Naga Bistro leans into the beautiful, pungent, and vibrant identities of Southeast Asia. They bridge the gap between the familiar and the daring:
• For the Comfort Seeker: You’ll find the Thai classics executed with a level of precision and fresh-herb brightness that makes your local takeout spot feel like a distant memory.
• For the Bourdain-Inspired Adventurer: This is where the magic happens. Dive into the Lao and Khmer (Cambodian) specialties. We’re talking about the funk of fermented fish paste (prahok), the citrusy snap of lemongrass, and the creeping heat of bird’s eye chilies that wake up your palate in ways you didn’t know were possible.
Must-Try Unique Dishes
You won’t find these at your average bistro. These are the dishes that define “destination dining”:
1. Amok Trei (Cambodian Fish Amok): A silky, mousse-like coconut curry steamed in banana leaves. It’s delicate, fragrant, and deeply traditional.
2. Lao-Style Papaya Salad: Forget the sweet versions; this is savory, spicy, and punchy, often featuring that deep, umami-rich crab paste that separates the tourists from the travelers.
3. Nam Khao: Crispy coconut rice salad that offers a texture profile—crunchy, chewy, and herbal—that is nothing short of addictive.
A Setting for Every Chapter
Naga Bistro manages a rare hat-trick: it fits every “vibe” without losing its soul.
• The Power Lunch: Impress your colleagues by ditching the steakhouse for something with actual personality. The service is sharp, and the flavors are a guaranteed conversation starter.
• Family Gatherings: The menu is built for sharing. Passing plates of aromatic curries and grilled meats creates the kind of communal energy that Southeast Asian dining is all about.
• Romantic Evenings: With its thoughtful decor and intimate atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot for a “foodie” date night. Nothing says romance like discovering a new favorite flavor together.
The Verdict
Naga Bistro is a love letter to the bold spirits of Southeast Asia. It doesn’t dilute the heat or dim the funk; it celebrates them. If you’re tired of the “same old” and want a meal that feels like an event, this is your new home.
Go with an open mind, a hungry stomach, and a sense of adventure.
We have been to Naga Bistro multiple times since they opened. Today, was not the day. We waited around 20 minutes for someone to take our order. During that time, we noticed a lot of menu changes, but that makes sense since they are awkwardly still in their soft opening.
After we ordered, our food came about 25 minutes later. When the waitress dropped our food off, she tells us there was only one sticky rice left so she would get the regular white rice for us and ran off. I had to call her back to question why the white rice and becuase we were still missing some items we ordered. She said “well there’s no more sticky rice.” No apologies or asking if there was a substitute available, she just ran off.
Another lady came to ask how everything was, and we had told her the pork belly wasn’t crispy, the chicken wings were bland and as tiny as your $1.65 sauce, and we only received one sticky rice. She goes “oh okay.” And she walks away.
We will not be coming back. The service and food were terrible, despite not being busy at all! It’s so hard to support your culture and community when they don’t try better for themselves.
