Reviews
I likely wouldn’t have minded, and actually the food and the personalized service of the upstairs bartender, and the restauranteur were the best part of the night. I ordered based off of previous reviews, and the mac & cheese was SUPER rich and creamy, and the pulled BBQ sandwich had a good balance of smoky sweet and tangy from the slaw.
The crowd skewed younger, hip hop vibes, and the DJ was meh— I miss when DJ’s actually were creative and mixed music intentionally and thoughtfully instead of being a glorified Spotify playlist.
I also noticed that the owner of the establishment sat and “supervised” the event as if these were rowdy children, him and the downstairs bartenders behavior and attitude non-verbally communicated a disposition of tolerating the “urban” crowd more than welcoming and embracing them. That was certainly a turn off.
I must note however, there is some very eclectic Afro and indigenous themed vintage artwork and posters (attached), vignettes, shrines and other offbeat interiors that add an esoteric galactic neon hued ambiance.
By 12AM the place was maybe 40% at capacity, yet they had stanchions setup outside as if preparing for a massive wave of people- was it worth the cover charge, for me no. Would I go again? Maybe on another night when there isn’t one.
Very cool interior, good prices (and very good specials when they have them), always great bartenders.
Had dollar wings special and two dollar beers during the Eagles game. Wings were surprisingly terrific, especially for a dive.
Great people watching too on a busy intersection when the door is propped open.
Update asked the bartender how long for the fries after waiting so long she checked for me came back and still hasn’t said a word to me very disappointed
FINAL UPDATE: THE COMEDY JAWN COMEDY SHOW ON MONDAYS MADE UP FOR EVERYTHING IT WAS AMAZING I HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME …..
FINAL JUDGEMENT SINCE THE OWNER SEEMS CONFUSED IS THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS TRASH BUT THE EVENTS THEY HELD , MUSIC , AND AMBIENCE WAS GREAT
The lemonade at humpty dumplings fire .
And they had bbq from the fly cafe EsCafe located on American and Jefferson
Music was chill and hype enough to get ppl dancing so definitely a great time
I will def be back and recommend u catch a event there ️
