Our reservation was at 2:00 PM and they were still setting up the dining room as the previous party ran late (understandable). All the 2:00 parties who were congregating in the door/dining room were then seated and our tea order was taken (we were told they were out of quiche). At 2:45 we had to remind a staff member no one had taken our order (frustrating as it seemed every other table had some sort of food). The waitress had to ask us twice for our order, as she forgot and they were probably short staffed. The waitress then said they only had blueberry scones (not even a plain scone was available). At 3:14 we got our first bite of food (soup) and we shared our experience with a male staff member who was walking around checking in on guests. We were told they were backed up in kitchen and the gentleman apologized for our displeasure and stated a discount would be given. At 3:22 we finally got our tier of food however the raspberry white chocolate scones (not blueberry) were raw in the middle (despite being warm). When we brought this to the man’s attention, he assured us they were cooked but moist due to the raspberries (I beg to differ). He then offered a plain scone (which we were told they did not have) as a replacement. The $82 meal was discounted to $69 but we should have left after being ignored for nearly an hour and paid the $30 no show fee. They should not mix “Princess tea” with “regular tea” guests- their Princess Jasmine was an unconvincing Caucasian female who should’ve worn a black wig. Bottom line: drive to Petersburg, Va to the BLUE WILLOW TEA ROOM for an authentic tea experience. (The attached photo is of their tea cups that their designer had picked out- I had inquired about them because to me it gives off office/diner vibes).

Besides overlooking the building restrictions – no sunlight, bright windows – which make for a pleasant environment, the tea itself was served in a tiny metal industrial teapot which was half full, and lukewarm. High teas are fun festive affairs but this had a more gloomy and antique-shop-like atmosphere. Scones are hard to master by most, the strawberry one while not a scone was good, the blueberry was undercooked, $15 for a cup of tea and 2 scones.

Worst afternoon tea I’ve ever had. Don’t waste your time or money. The bread on the sandwiches was dry. The “pot” of tea you get is smaller than the cup and leaks horribly when pouring. The scones weren’t scones at all but more like cake. And the “York cream” is NOTHING like clotted cream, don’t let them tell you otherwise. The taste and texture are very different! It wasn’t good at all. And look how much they give you for two scones, about 1 tsp. Pathetic! And the dessert was not at all worth eating. We took one bite then left. I lived in England for 3 years, I know what an afternoon should be like. This wasn’t even on par by American standards. Go elsewhere for your tea.

I was able to enjoy a very nice early dinner yesterday evening at the York Gardens And Tearoom. I chose the “lady Tee’s three cheese baked spaghetti” it was absolutely delicious! For dessert I went with the Chocolate Marquis and I can most definitely say I’m a fan! The service was amazing and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. I will for sure be returning!

Very enjoyable. I had Duke of York High Tea. Soup and finger sandwiches were great. Cheese and fruit had a great variety. Scones with preserves are delicious. Customer service excellent. Will definitely be back.

We enjoyed tea and refreshments with Cinderella today. Cinderella was enchanting and spent an hour talking and socializing with my granddaughter. She took time to sign autographs and listened to all of the stories the kids shared. The service was amazing and the food was so delicious. The atmosphere in the outdoor seating area was very serene and relaxing. I highly recommend taking time to stop by for a spot of tea and lunch. I’m hoping they have more tea parties with other Princesses. If they do, I can guarantee we’ll be there!

My son & I enjoyed the Duke of York high tea here recently. Everything was excellent. I especially liked the scones. Even though they were plain scones, they were the best scones I’ve ever tasted! The little apple tart on the dessert tier was a pleasantly delicious surprise. So fresh & tasty! My son still talks about them. All in all, there was a lot of food. Sandwiches were delightful. We took some home & enjoyed them for lunch the next day. It was such a enjoyable experience, especially on a cold winter.day. The tea warmed us & the food nurtured us.
Because I would like to see this establishment be successful, I would recommend they have a bigger sign to point out their tearoom. I wouldn’t want someone to pass them by & miss out on this enjoyable experience.

The food was excellent!good selection of tea sandwich’s on soft bread delicious warm scones Service was good as well. Only issues was finding the place, the sign was mostly logo and couldn’t see from the road we drove past twice before we found it, I’d suggest bigger sign where the word tearoom is visible also the interior felt like an old lady’s living room set inside a strip mall. The linens on our table were very wrinkled and covered in lint. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would go back because the food was so good but in the interest of attracting more customers get a new sign and redecorate with brighter fresher colors maybe add some plants or windows to feel more like a garden tea party atmosphere.

The restaurant is cute albeit a bit dated and run down. The server was nice and attentive. I would never go back though because the food just wasn’t very good. We ordered two quiches that were completely unpalatable. We took one bite and couldn’t continue. They also smelled disgusting as if they had been made with rotten, moldy cheese. We were refunded for the quiche but what remained just wasn’t worth the money. The cream for the scones was oddly sweet, nothing that would ever be served with a scone at a legit high tea. The sandwiches were okay, not the soft bread that is typically served but were edible. The tea was served with cream and honey, not the sugar cubes of a traditional tea which I found weird. The desserts were okay. Overall, the tea was mediocre and way overpriced for what you are served and the disgusting quiche made me never want to eat egg again. I would not recommend.
