Headed to the Cincy area soon and wanting to hit some old stomping grounds. Looks like Jim Dandy’s BBQ is closed?

Ok…WOW! Let’s start with the simple stuff. The beans and rice are AMAZING! Corn bread? To DIE FOR! The brisket and pork were some of the best ever! Everything meat is wood fired here. The place smells wonderful! WAY better than other places. I didn’t even try the sauces on the table until I was done eating as I love the natural flavors of the smokiness of their meats. Then I “finger tested” the sauces. The mild was great, so was the hot, but the mild would certainly sell gallons if available! I wanted to smuggle a table bottle out, but they were watching me. If I lived here, I would be here 3 times per week at least!

My husband and I got pulled pork platters. The meat had no seasoning, and I got pieces of skin in my pulled pork sandwich and it was full of chewy fat. The cornbread tastes like jiffy and the cashier was not very pleasant. All in all it was edible but I likely won’t be coming back to this establishment when Cincinnati has bbq options such as Neal’s in Hamilton and Eli’s in Riverside. A pretty subpar BBQ joint.

Totally awesome! Passing through overnight and had to try it due to high rating. It was even better than imagined. Had pulled pork platter with beans and potato salad. Daughter had the same with mac’n cheese. All of it was unbelievably good.

Just had a 80th Birthday party for the owner of JF Berns in Forest Park for 40 team members.
Ribs feel off the bones, sides and corn bread perfect. Owner and staff always friendly and price is definitely affordable! Recommend you make the trip ( just for smells, lol) .

Great and very welcoming staff! The employees are so friendly makes you feel like you are going to a family members house for dinner or lunch. The best bread putting you can get in Ohio. Get the pulled brisket sandwich! Real BBG

I love BBQ and was excited that this place was so close to my hotel. I walked over for dinner and the smokers out front were a good sign. The prices are OK about mid range for BBQ. I chose the Salmon which was a special the day I was there, I would have liked to try the ribs but was just not that hungry. for sides I had Mac-n-cheese and bread pudding. Th also add a square of cornbread. The cornbread was good, the bread pudding was average and the Mac-n-cheese was kind of institutional. Unfortunately because of my onion allergy I was pretty limited in sides. The salmon was cooked well but they was not a lot of smokey flavor and the outside was a little tough.

I past by three tables before I found one that was clean and they were not very busy so I think they need to do a better job in getting to the tables after customers leave.

Since I didn’t try the meats I can’t really give an opinion and if I go there again I will try them, but on this visit they did not meet expectations.

I’m no barbecue expert, but use been to a few different restaurants around the country, and this was one of the best. I ordered a half rack of ribs, and they were fantastic. Great flavor, and the portion was large. The meat was lean, without too lunch fat or gristle like you sometimes get on ribs. The sauce was delicious as well. I mixed the mild and hot barbecue sauces. The sides were also pretty good. The price was a little higher than I’ve seen in other places for ribs, but I think it was worth the money. Highly recommended.

The food was very good and the service was very friendly. The guy at the counter went back a few times for us to ask whether something had eggs (our son is allergic). Unfortunately, the answer was almost always yes, but he liked the green beans and the pulled chicken. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was delicious.

The thing I found disappointing was that this was essentially a fast food restaurant at sit down restaurant prices. You order at the counter and they have all the food precooked. They hand it to you on a tray and you go sit down to eat it. Given that we were the only ones there late at night, it made me curious as to how long the food had been sitting in the warming trays. However, as I said, it was good food and no one got sick. I would just expect at those prices that there would be a waiter and everything would be made to order.

Absolutely epicly amazing! Great good with exceptional service. The first question they ask before you order is “how are you doing?” A great place to come as a couple, small or large groups, and catering! The owner is a blessed godly man with fantastic food. I highly recommend the pulled pork to start, and the creamy bread pudding to finish.
