This was delish, my friends. A rather unassuming photo, but everything in this sandwich (Wailua Breakfast) was incredibly tasty. For me, the texture and flavor of the eggs really stood out. You also can’t go wrong with the sourdough. I appreciated such a hearty little sandwich before taking on the day. Good stuff! My friend in the back had pancakes, which were also dutifully cleared. I can only imagine how yummy the rest of the menu is!

En route to Ha’ena State Park and I began looking for a breakfast place to stop at. Red Eye Snack Shack caught my eye and the menu looked really good so we decided to stop in.

We walked in at around 9 AM on a Sunday and we ended up being the only ones there. Our waitress was super friendly, chatty, and attentive to our table and gave some great menu suggestions.

I got the Kanak Attack Breakfast as my entree which came with either a pancake or waffle, 3 eggs, 2 choices of meat, toast, and rice.
I chose Bacon, Portuguese Sausage, Sourough, and upgraded to the Hawaiian Fried rice.
All around, everything was fantastic! The eggs were cooked perfectly, the pancake was good, the fried rice was phenomenal, and the bacon and sausage were super flavorful and cooked perfectly.

I also tried out the Banana bread since it was known to be some of the best on the island and it was pretty good!

Overall, this was easily my favorite breakfast spot we went to on Kauai. If you’re driving on Kuhio Highway looking for a good spot, the Red Eye Snack Shack is a winner! I will easily come back if I’m back in Lihue.

They write on the menu that they have gluten free options and we can ask for more info. They have 1 item on the menu, the waffles during the morning. We showed up for lunch and we have been told that the rice was gluten free for dinner. Only the rice. So their gluten free claim is deceiving at best.

I got the pannini (im not GF) and I received a sandwich with dry bread. No mention of a broken panini press or something else, just a cold sandwich after waiting 30 minutes.
Would not recommend at all.

I would have never thought this had meals available. We stopped in for fresh pineapple and ended up staying for breakfast. This was by far the absolute best breakfast we have had since arriving to the island for the 3rd time! The kids had wonderful pancake waffles, my husband had an avocado toast with greens, cheeses, and shrimp, I had the most tasty breakfast burrito!! Large portion sizes and oh so yummy! It was a fun, relaxed atmosphere with island music and games to enjoy! The funky monkey smoothies and coconut coffee were !!

I take my breakfast spots very seriously, and this spot was AMAZING! The scrambled eggs with Portuguese sausage and pork with rice was fantastic. I also got the huli chicken pesto panini gluten free to have for lunch later, which I haven’t found many places in Hawai’i with gluten free sandwiches so that was great to begin with, but that was also SO good. Such a cute little place, great quality food that price wise is also reasonable compared to a lot of other places in the area. I would eat here every day if I could.

Do not let looks fool you, it doesn’t necessarily look like a place to eat at first but OH MY GOD the Cuban sandwich i had was amazing. Service was FANTASTIC and the atmosphere is laid back. They have cards and board games on tables to play while you wait for food. All in all I would eat here always!!!

The food was so delicious! We tried the Red Eye Poke and the Huli Chicken Pesto Panini. The server was so friendly and helpful. The snack shack is in the back of a store that is full of local vendors.

One of the coolest spots we’ve eaten at while being on the island. Staff is super friendly and happy to answer any of your questions. They have some cool merchandise we picked up and the food tastes amazing. The Mac nut coffee I got was incredible.

If you are visiting Kauai, this place is a must visit. I got the Pocho Pesto bagel and you should too. I ate half of it before I took the picture because it was just too good. They definitely don’t skimp on ingredients. Friendly people and awesome food!
