My friend told me this place has great halal food, and they were right. I really love their chicken Saj bread wrap, the bread has a lightly crispy texture, and the chicken is tender and not dry at all. The portion is quite large, so it definitely worth the price in both taste and quantity.
For dining in, they have outdoor share tables where you can relax and enjoy the nature under the trees during summer or fall. In winter, though, it’s best to just grab takeout and go.

They are very kind but unfortunately the food was a miss. We ordered a falafel pita sandwich and a beef shawarma. They both were wrapped in tortillas. The beef was really dry, like a stale hamburger patty. Flavor was really off.. I couldn’t finish it because I was worried it wasn’t fresh. The fries were good at least.

I could eat their chicken wrap and fries daily. Return garlic sauce hits. There fries or excellent. It’s the perfect amount of food and prepared quick if you’re in the move.

Quality has gone downhill. I ordered the veggie wrap expecting falafel with tasty pickles and sauce, but it was literally just fries, cheese, and ketchup. I verified there would be no cheese before ordering but it somehow ended up in there. We had to throw away our food. I would not recommend and will not be back.

I ordered my shawarma with all the toppings. I got chicken and what I think we’re pickle strips. No sauces, no lettuce/cabbage, no cheese, no tomatoes, no cucumbers, no peppers. The only explanation I can think of is that there may have been a language barrier issue. I usually get shawarma from Reading terminal market in Philly, and if those are the metric by which others are measured, then this one was a distant 2nd. It was still very tasty, and definitely worth it, but I cannot give it 5 stars. The salad was pretty good, and a very good size, if somewhat heavy on the parsley.
As it is a stand, there is only outdoor seating, and just a few small tables, right at the corner of a somewhat busy intersection, so grabbing food to go is likely to make for a more pleasant place to sit. There is a little bit of seating in a small garden area just a few steps away, which looked quite nice.

The food served here is really excellent! I have been craving some tasty Middle Eastern food, and this is just the place to get some. Decent location too. I tried their chicken shawarma arabi as well as the baklava.
The food was delicious. I haven’t seen many reviews of their baklava, but decided to give it a try either way. The baklava wasn’t anything special. I believe it is made in house though. Good, but could have used more syrup. And somewhat expensive, although good portion. Honestly not really sure if the baklava is worth it.
However, the chicken! The wrap! The saj! This was delicious. If you come here, you must try the Arabi (chicken Arabi or beef Arabi, either one). The saj bread it is wrapped in is perfectly crispy and incredible. The chicken is quite good as well. Nice little chunks of pickles throughout the wrap.
Outside of the wrap, you get a little container of vegetables, like thinly sliced carrots and a few pickles. You also get a ton of fries with the meal. These fries were quite tasty, surprisingly. And I’m not usually much of a fry fan. They also have this incredible garlic sauce, which is used up very quickly. It’s also included inside the arabi. I would buy a bottle of that sauce if they sold it.
All in all, the food at Omar’s Halal Grill is amazing. It’s not too expensive and the portions are quite large. The quality is very high, and I would definitely recommend the Arabi.

I come to Oakland for work and love to take a walk down to Omar’s to get a tasty lunch. Shawarma was great but my favorite part is how not messy it is. Carefully wrapped and filled to order. I will be back. Film photos attached.
