I visited this Hartz Chicken Restaurant on 2/21/26 at lunchtime. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly.
There’s actually a senior discount! They were busy, but the buffet was fully stocked and hot. The staff was packing a large order to go, for out of towners in vans and a few car loads of people who were so excited.
The place was just explosive! AND THE FOOD WAS GOOD.
We ate in and ordered chicken to take home! We enjoyed the experience.

On our way to Houston, my son and I were looking to get something to eat happen to see this place near us and decided to try it out. We were looking for a quick bite and to get on our way. Never been to a fast food type buffet joint, let alone a fried chicken buffet, so wasn’t sure what to expect. Upon pulling up, the place looked a run down from the outside so we were a little concerned and there was like one car in the front. It was 3pm on a Friday afternoon so I wasn’t expecting many people or really fresh offerings. Upon walking in, we were promptly greeted by a very friendly cashier. The place is small and the buffet table is small but it takes up most of the dining space. We were given some styrofoam plates and headed to the buffet. I was pleasantly surprised, the food looked really good, and as we first started looking to see what we wanted, an employee came over and pointed out some of the items, and asked if there was anything specific we needed. The food was fresh and they’d refill anything we may have needed. Stand outs were the chicken tenders, the rolls, the red beans and rice. They had fried gizzards and liver if you’re into that. Chicken and dumplings soup was good. Fried catfish was fresh and the regular fried chicken was good too. The Mac and cheese wasn’t to great, but the macaroni salad and Cole slaw were good. Long story short, the food was good and fresh, surprisingly at 3pm on a Friday. I’d definitely go back if I’m driving through. If your really hungry you’ll definitely get your moneys worth. $13 and change for the buffet which includes a drink.

Buffet was empty. Asked for liver and gizards got gizards. Went to counter asked for white meat chicken never got it. very sad. We have been having great service and food. BUT this is what happens when manager has a day off

When traveling I always plan my trips to stop here for lunch. All the food is good and the staff was very friendly. An added benefit was they now offer spicy chicken and it was delicious.

Have not been to a Hartz Chicken buffet in quite some time I stopped in at the one in Sealy Texas it is definitely small even the buffet area where the chicken was only old like four pieces of chicken at a time I will say the one closer into Houston is way bigger and way more food out but for a small town it’s not bad

Buffets can be iffy depending on the time of day and for a lot of other various reasons.
On my most recent visit at around 1 PM on a Saturday all of the food on the buffet was very fresh and well stocked with a large selection. Delicious!

Today was different than when the other manager is there. The sweet lady at the register was constantly having to keep the cook on point. Some of the food on the buffet tasted old. The tea tasted old and the sprite was separated. We usually have a good experience but today was not.
