My last couple of times have been disappointing. The place is still super cute, and the bakery is delish, but the latte drinks have really taken a turn for the worse. I normally get a London Fog Tea Latte, and they used to be very good. These last couple of times, it’s as if they steep the tea and then add warmed milk to it. No foam, no creamy texture. Just a mug of tea with flat warm milk.
So this time I took my drink back and talked to the barista. I showed her the drink, and she acknowledged that it definitely was not very creamy or foamy. But here is the part that really floored me. She said that they use an “auto steamer” (which is a steaming and frothing device used by larger coffee chains) and that there was nothing they could do about this situation. Seriously? They then just looked at me with blank stares. Totally bizarre for a small local shop that considers itself to be unique and focused on quality.

First time here. Super impressed with the experience. Nice staff, excellent drinks and comfortable seating areas.
The staff were patient as I was explaining London Fog Latte. They made it perfectly with lavender, vanilla and extra foam. Had the Maple Pecan Scone, and that was very good. (the scone itself was a little cakey, but the maple glaze made up for it).
Sold wifi. Comfortables chairs and couches. An outdoor patio for nice weather too.
It pains me to see many bad reviews of this cafe. Most of the reviews are not even for the product that is served, it is for a giraffe decoration. It’s sad that the baristas that work there are mostly kids and their hard work is being overshadowed because some people don’t like a choice of decor. If you’re going to judge an establishment, you should judge it for the people working there and what they are serving and how they serve it.
When I come in for breakfast, I always go for the classic bacon breakfast sandwich. I was nervous about the mayo upon first eating the sandwich, but the mayo and the cheese work together to elevate the sandwich to the next level. When I feel like eating something else, my other go to is the shakshuka breakfast. It’s not a typical shakshuka dish, but it always hits the spot.
When I drink the coffee, my drink is the iced red eye, the notes of chocolate from the dark roast mixed with the cherry notes from the espresso always give me my coffee fix for the day. If I’m feeling like a different drink, I always go for the cappuccino. When I judge a coffee shop, I first judge them by their cappuccinos and latitude knows how to make a cappuccino. I just wish they served it in the traditional 8oz cup.
For lunch, I go for the bacon chicken panini with tomato and avocado added to it. Enough said
In my four years of frequently coming here, I’ve seen the staff change quite a bit. The staff at this point in time are some of my favorite baristas to ever serve me. Whenever I come in they greet me with smiling faces and happy attitudes. Which I think is a lot to ask for nowadays. Most of the staff are high school kids and high school graduates and they are trained to know what coffee is and how to serve it at a boutique level. To my knowledge, all of the baristas are trained to both cook and make coffee, so they have a lot expected out of them when it comes to knowing what to do.
The interior has really tasteful decor. It’s a small location but the interior space is used really well to allow room for singles, couples, and groups. I took some photos when I stopped in December and the café has some terrific Christmas decorations. Very cozy feel.
The employees here are always friendly and helpful. I was very interested in the high tech machines they use to roast the beans and the owners took the time to show me how they work! Truly passionate, down to earth, honest, hard-working people. I highly recommend Latitude Café. Support small business!
