Kind staff, delicious sushi, beautifully presented. You can tell the owners & family really take pride in this place. All the special rolls are so yummy and well put together it feels like fine dining but very unassuming.

I was in town for work, and this place was within walking distance of my accommodations. My order included the rolls Oyster Tempura, Calimari, Shrimp Tempura, Greece(special), Asparagus Shiitake, and Sweet potato roll. All were crafted and presented well, and tasted good. Of special note, I felt that the Greece roll was phenominal! The waitress was very attentive, and the service good. I enjoyed the atmosphere, which was quiet and dim, a perfect place for a casual date.

I’ve been going to Sumo for lunch and dinners for a few years now. This is this is my favorite sushi place!
They have unmatched hospitality. The sushi isn’t the greatest in the world but it is the most consistent I’ve had and way above the normal standard. Every roll I’ve tried is great and the specialty rolls are even better.
Highly recommend Sumo for any occasion. The staff is very polite and I’ve never had an issue with phone orders or in-person dining over the past 5 years I’ve visited. The food comes out in a timely fashion and the price is just right. Amazing place for sushi and the occasion hibachi dish!

Best Sushi in Greece!
Multiple trips now, and this place continues to be one of our favorite places to go for Sushi in Rochester. Food continues to be very fresh and delicious. Portion sizes have shrunk slightly over the past few years but still very appropriate. Staff are always great and accommodating. Restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere, perfect for date nights.

After traveling to Japan two years ago, my husband and I struggled to find a place in Rochester that served sushi we could appreciate. SUMO is by far the best sushi we have had in the area. They offer creative rolls, but also have high quality sashimi that is served at the right temperature! Not on ice! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Doesn’t look like much from the curb but the food was good and it was nice inside and clean. Hibachi filet was super tender. The food could use a little more seasoning. They DO NOT cook the Hibachi in front of you. Staff were nice. Kids liked the food too which is always a bonus when traveling.
