The short woman (definitely not a lady) with glasses and accent was excessively impolite / rude which I completely tolerated. She was so rude that she literally threw the bag which had my bowl in it in front of me as if she was throwing a bone to a street dog. Plus, I guess how incapable she was of saying a simple “you’re wecome” or “of course”, she was not even capable of closing a lid that my bowl ended up the way in the pictures.

I stopped into playa bowl on a weekday around lunchtime and ordered the large size of the standard acai bowl. I should have ordered the small because it was just straight up not good.

Acai should be a saturated dark purple color and have the texture of a fruit sorbet, and the bowl I got was purplish brown and mushy which tells me the acai was not fresh. The economy is tough, I get it, but when I’m paying >$18 for an acai bowl I expect it to be worth that amount of money.

Also – the cashier seemed like they hated their life (which is valid, whatever) but I didn’t enjoy having them hovering directly over me as the iPad prompted me to tip. Like seriously, they were just looking down at the iPad as I was tipping.

I have had a much better acai bowl at Baya bar and would recommend people go there instead.

Love coming here, bowls are always fresh and plentiful for one person. Sometimes I wish the bowl was less crowded so I can mix it better. I’ll always be back!

FOOD
These bowls were delicious!! I had the coconut one with Nutella and banana and i couldn’t stop eating it until I finished, definitely surprised with the quality of their bowl. Price felt right for what I received.

SERVICE
Service was okay, nothing terrible but also nothing amazing or worth noting. They delivered what we ordered and moved on to the next person.

ATMOSPHERE
I think this is where this place shines too. The restaurant itself looks cozy and it definitely adopts the “beach” style they wanted to go for, but the best thing about it is everything you can do outside in Hoboken once you receive your order. My favorite is to get one of these bowls and then walk to the park and bask in the sun and get one of my favorite views of all of New York.

Went in today at the Hoboken location and the staff was so rude! She literally skipped out my Nutella for “the Nutella bowl”. When I confronted her about the missing Nutella she said : can’t you see it’s there. Posting the picture in case you guys can see if it’s there. Never coming back. The tables were unclean and the staff is so impolite.

The poke is delicious. It’s super fresh and the salmon is sushi grade. We got the salmon avocado bowl and it was just great. Giving 4 stars because you don’t get enough protein for the price. Tip: for an extra dollar or two, you can ask for extra protein.

I love this location in Hoboken. Playa bowls is absolutely delicious. I always go and share a playa bowls with my boyfriend. We have tried the Nutella açaí bowl and the electric mermaid. Both really good, fruity and yummy.

Nice and cozy interior. They even have outdoor seating. Nutella Acai Bowl was great, I got an additional topping of peanut butter for $0.50 – made it even better. Also, LOVED the granola!! It is pricey though – my bowl with the topping, taxes and tip came to about $14. I’ll probably only go back if I have an Acai bowl craving late during the day since I know a place that serves some really good Acai bowl for $6 for breakfast.

Young woman rude and didn’t want to make a simple accommodation/ substitute. Went across the street at Shaka Bowls and they did it with no problem.
