Roost’s 50-seat space is cozy and unpretentious amid walls paneled with photos from the past 15 years of business and our community. Roost’s fun and diverse menu is revised every 6 weeks, inspired by local availability of farm-fresh seasonal ingredients and flavors of the world, including the American South, Asia and the Middle East. Taking advantage of Chef Naderi’s Persian heritage with Texas upbringing, diners are in for a treat!
Taking his passion and the experience he gained staging at Picholine in NYC and Madrona Manor in Napa along with his work at Brennan’s, Haven, Soma and most recently as consulting Chef for Saint Genevieve in West Ave, at 26-years-old Naderi opened his first restaurant, Roost in December, 2011.
Cozy bistro dishing up a diverse selection of creative New American dishes in a small, old house.

Our second time here. They recently renovated and the space is looking so cute! We went in for their happy hour on a Wednesday and were so pleased with our drinks and dishes. We ordered the pretzel (so soft and delicious), the white bean hummus with pita chips, and their cauliflower bites. We were both satisfied after our meal and were pleasantly surprised by our bill. Regardless of the happy hour, this place is worth a visit for the food. With a cozy atmosphere and friendly service, it won’t disappoint!

Very relaxed environment to enjoy dinner. Came for restaurant week with a 3 month old and was happy they accommodated a corner spot for stroller to let our little one snooze while we enjoyed dinner. Our waiter was very helpful in guiding some popular dishes. We enjoyed the bread service a lot and would get again. I liked the shrimp and melon starter—exceptional combination of sweet and savory. The short rib pasta was just ok for me but loved the butter cake. Wife had the pork chop which I would definitely get next time. Donuts were a little heavy for me personally but they tasted good. We took advantage of the 30% off all day Monday happy hour and got a bottle of their GSM. We would definitely come back and I thought it was a good value for restaurant week.

Absolutely loved this place! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and the staff made us feel right at home. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care — every bite was amazing. You can really tell how much passion goes into what they do here.
If you’re looking for great food, great service, and a place you’ll want to come back to again and again, this is it. Highly recommend!

Beautiful restaurant, excellent ambiance, and very good food. Don’t label roost a “neighborhood spot” because it’s a lot more than that. The remodel looks really nice, very tasteful. The seats are actually well padded and not some hard wood nonsense like a lot of high end restaurants that just want to turn tables. The temperature is very comfortable, not too cold not too hot. The music is incredible – you’re going to hear songs you long forgot about it that span classic hip hop to r&b. The food is excellent and the service is great. At the same time, this is a very approachable menu with multiple items you’ll want to try. I loved it.

Delicious. Loved the menu and the freshness of the food. The team was nice and worked with us. The easy delight of a meal that fosters nice memories with friends. We ordered all the desserts. If I had to choose my to top one, it would be the passion fruit one, and the donuts are a very close second. I’m another life/body, I would get the baked brie as my entree. We’ll be back.

Overall, it was a good experience. When we first walked in, it took a little while to be greeted. We were told to sit wherever we liked, which was fine, but it took about 10–15 minutes for a server to come by. After being seated, we ordered the bread service, which took about 20 minutes to arrive. We tried the Jalapeño Burger and the Tandoori Octopus. The burger had good flavor but was overcooked, and both the tandoori and the tater tots were quite salty. The margaritas, however, were delicious. I would return, but the food wasn’t quite what I expected.

This is the local “hidden” gem in Houston. Definitely get the cauliflower appetizer and I always get the pickled vegetables of the day. Very cool eclectic menu has some Creole, South Asian and Middle Eastern influences and sometimes a little latin touch. Decent wine list and grab a local beer on tap. The atmosphere is very unpretentious..almost feels like your in your grandma’s basement setting, but I am totally OK with it. One of my top go to restaurants in Houston.

Quaint little house restaurant. Very nice ingredient variety on a small menu, which they refresh every 8 weeks. For the price, quality is exceptional… Dinner for 2 cost $50-100 less than at others of similar quality.
Also a solid global wine variety for a neighborhood spot. They accommodated a special menu request without a second thought.
Worth a visit!

My partner and I came here to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere is cozy and the service was pretty okay. We tried several dishes: fried cauliflower, pickled vegetables, oysters Rockefeller, Brussels sprouts, shrimp and grits, duck two ways, and donuts and coffee. The shrimp and grits, Brussels sprouts, and oysters were phenomenal, and everything else was good too. Although this restaurant isn’t at the top of my list, I do plan to return!
