During my visit it wasn’t too busy and the service was great. The food was great and I’d definitely go back here!!!! The portion was great in my opinion and for starters, one order of fajitas should be enough for two people to eat off of to try them. They were a little skimpy on the refried beans as well though. I guess it worked out fine because I guess veggies won’t hurt anyway right? The atmosphere was normal storefront vibe due to its corner location and once inside all of the windows are towards the entrance which I enjoyed. Once inside, you’re more inside if that makes sense! There seats along the windows though. Our servers checked on us a lot in which I enjoyed. I’d say go check the out as soon as possible.
A very generous portion of steak w/ grilled red and yellow bell peppers & onion served on a piping hot, sizzling skillet.
When it arrived the smell was the absolutely tantalizing.
It was delicious, the steak was tender and vegetables grilled to a perfect consistency.
Additionally a second plate of rice beans and lettuce tomatoes and a fat grilled jalapeno w/ 3 flour tortillas.
I also had a Modelo beer to wash down.
The servers were very polite and check with me several times to be sure everything is good, the restaurant was clean while some pleasant traditional music played in the background.
I was in the area only because I have some work being done on my vehicle and I was very hungry.
Killing time I was riding my bicycle in the area and found this restaurant.
The staff let me bring my bicycle in to the far side of the restaurant as I forgot to bring a lock.
I found them very accommodating for this.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Cons: Quesadillas are overpriced and (clearly by the photos below) made incorrectly. They weren’t hot so the cheese wasn’t melted.. Plus the cook placed all the cheese at the front of it which causes for you to adjust it yourself.
The carne asada itself tasted like nothing. No flavor , just fatty. It was a 2/5 experience for both me & my husband
I Ordered Horchata, Caldo de Pollo (Chicken Soup), and the Quesabirrias. The horchata was good but I would have liked more cinnamon flavor.
The soup contained bone-in chicken, potatoes, corn on the cob, and carrots. I appreciated the cilantro, onions, jalapeno, and limes on the side for a more interactive and individualized experience. The soup also came with piping hot corn or flour tortillas. There were also plenty of sauces to choose from to season the soup (red, green, Valentina, El Yucateco). Stylistically, I prefer not to have to remove bones from my soup but the soup was flavorful.
I loved their quesabirrias. The flavorful beef birria, the melty oaxaca cheese, the crispy tortilla shell … what’s not to love? It was also tasty the day after (using my airfryer).
La Carreta now has alcohol options, so I must come back for that alone. However, there are also numerous food items that look tasty, including their seafood options.
I got the shrimp tostada for lunch.
I saw a lot of complaints about the service but I didn’t experience that.
