Oh yum! Decided to give this new place a try, and I knew as soon as I walked in and smelled the delicious aromas that I made a good decision.
We tried the chicken sampler and the chicken tikka masala with papadums and naan.
The flavours were bursting with every bite and the medium spice level had a subtle kick. There was plenty of chicken in each dish, which was also great quality (no gristle).
Portion sizes were enough for 2 adults to make 2 meals each.
Can’t wait to go back and eat our way through the menu!

First time visiting, the dishes are excellent especially the Thandoori mix sizzling plate. Meat tastes great and tender. Even the place is smaller but very clean and they cook fresh. The spicy level they asked before making dishes, which I really appreciate because I eat medium level of spicy and my husband love spicy food. They made the dishes according to our spicy level. I will give 10/10 for this restaurant.

The best Indian food I’ve had in Newmarket in the 20 years I’ve been here.
My mum got me into The Spice Room, and it does not disappoint. She likes her food mild (heat-wise) and they have managed to deliver flavourful dishes with less heat every time. I, however, like mine on the warmer side and their standard heat levels have been great so far, and super tasty.
Today we had chicken tikka and kadhai chicken, some onion bhajjia and naan, and everything was delicious and fresh tasting.
Give The Spice Room a try; I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Can’t believe i have to edit my review right after the second visit.
The food was without salt. And the rotis were undercooked. Seems the spice room forgot to add spices in the kitchen.
Does not taste authentic at all.
Once you go there make sure you snack a bit cause they take forever to bring your food out.
Owner of this restaurant should have more people working at the back to being the service to fast pace.

We noticed a new Indian restaurant on Yonge St. in Newmarket where Rexall is located called The Spice Room. When we entered the Hostess Meenakshi, greeted us warmly and invited us to choose a table. Once seated our water glasses were filled and we were given menus. The menu has a large selection of items including vegetarian options. We took our time to review the entire menu before deciding to share a couple of dishes. Our Hostess asked what level of spice are we comfortable with? I said medium…am I glad I didn’t choose my usual Hot level since medium was a perfect level of heat rhat allowed us to fully enjoy the flavours of each dish. We started with an assortment of Vegetable Pakoras that was served with 2 side sauces, tamarin and methi. The Pakoras consisted of potatoes, onions, peppers, broccoli and mushrooms. The vegetables were fresh with a light coating of what tasted like a coating reminiscent of chickpeas. Once our appetiser was finished the dishes were cleared and we were served our main course. We ordered a dish of Chili Chicken, and a dish of Mushroom Masala. We also had 2 orders of Nan (each order consists of 3 pieces). Multiple flavours of Nan are available including Rosemary, but we let our Hostess choose for us. She recommended the garlic Nan, good choice. The Chili Chicken had fresh ginger, coriander and a spicy sauce with some peppers. The Mushroom Masala was something we hadn’t experienced before and were equally surprised by both the heat level, perfect cook on the mushrooms that were neither soggy nor crisp, but somewhere in the middle, with its robust juices still within. We asked for a takeout container as these portions were enough for 2 meals. We also asked for another order of Nan for takeout. I must say The Spice Room is a welcomed addition to Newmarket and we will return. I’m looking forward to trying their Mulligatawny Soup on our next visit.

Went there for lunch based on a coworkers recommendation. And absolutely loved it. Everything tasted delicious but the freshly baked naan bread stood out. Service was fantastic. Server was caring and checked upon us frequently. Prices were reasonable as well. Now, is it the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to? Probably not. But it doesn’t have to because the food tastes just like homemade as if someone’s mom cooked it. And for that it’s definitely worth visiting. Highly recommend.

The Spice Room is one of the best Indian meals I’ve had in a long time. I did a pickup order but they have plenty of seating in a well lit warm atmosphere. The lady at the counter was very friendly and efficient. The meals were well worth the medium price point.

I ordered the coconut fish curry. Delicioso!!! Originally I ordered to take out but because one of the family members was ill, they informed me that it would take longer than usual so I decided to eat there. Another patron walked in, saw my plate, asked what it was and ordered the same. It is run by a very pleasant family. This will probably be my go-to Indian restaurant from now.
