They have only been open for a few months. The servers were so attentive! We had lamb chops and the gyro Greek salad platter. Delicious food and large portions, great for taking some home for another meal. The tzatziki sauce was yummy and the pita bread tasted freshly baked. They had mint jam, which is not my favorite, as I prefer mint sauce or chimichurri sauce with lamb, but that was minor. The lamb was cooked perfect.
The restaurant was in a large space with booths and tables at this golf clubhouse, with an adjacent live jazz lounge room. We were glad to have authentic Greek food for the first time in a long while. We enjoyed cocktails and wine as well. After dinner we left and enjoyed the live music for a bit. A nice evening. Looking forward to trying lunch, brunch, and the baklava another time!

We met friends for lunch and to enjoy fantastic food in a family atmosphere! Sarah was our server and handled 10 hungry customers with aplomb & professionalism! She was knowledgeable about the food & sensitive to us just talking talking talking lol. Sarah kept our glasses filled, our plates removed, & was friendly & efficient.
I got the cheeseburger with fries ordered well done & it was delish! The chesse melted beautifully and the fries were super crispy! The lettace, tomatoes, pickles & onions were fresh & crisp with beautiful garden colors! YUM!
Mr. Nick brought out the flaming cheese and WOW! Presentation was awesome & that flaming cheese!!!! Still thinking of it!

Spme of the best food in Cookeville. Quiet patio seating with very attentive service. The food options were very diverse. The chicken riviera was flavorful and delicious. Also has incredible cheesecake. There was a baklava option but thought it would be pushing it to get both. Don’t forget to ask about the flaming cheese!

We had a great experience for lunch. Roomy dining area with nice views of the golf course. Huge portions so don’t order as much as I did. We took home more food than we actually ate! Can recommend the gyro platter (large gyro, not your ordinary fries, and a colorful Greek salad), mousakka and the baklava.

They’ve done a nice job remodeling the restaurant side of a tired building.
Four of us shared two lemon chicken soups. They were tasty.
Diner 1 had the lasagna and loved it.
Diner 2 had Chicken Marsala and gobbled it up.
Diner 3 had Pork Tenderloin Marsala and was pleased.
Diner 4 had Chicken Oreganata. Half of a chicken covered with a butter lemon sauce. Very nicely cooked.
The server was excellent.
We agreed to come back and save room for dessert. They had a tray of baklava straight from the oven, but we were stuffed.
Please give these folks a try.

On my 26th anniversary, I took my wife to Taverna on the Green. I had no idea what I was expecting, but it absolutely impressed me. I ordered the Surf and Turf Lobster with the Steak, and my wife had the Athenian Chicken. Niko was very attentive, caring, and genuine. We both enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be returning.

Absolutely insane experience. I played a not so great round of golf but when I stopped for dinner I was dumbfounded. Complimentary warm peeta bread with delicious house made tzatziki sauce. Nick the cook made me perfectly cooked juicy lamb chops that blew my socks off. Tiffany and Lindsey gave me incredible service. It really tasted home cooked. I struck gold with this place. They’ve only been open TWO MONTHS and somehow managed to give me the best dining experience I’ve had in a long long time. Wow. I ended the meal with a generous slice of cheesecake and strawberries. Fresh of course. And a foamy cappuccino. My bill was 50 dollars! This place should be packed every night. If I were to ever recommend a restaurant, it would be Taverna on the Green in Cookeville Tennessee.

When I tell you there is no more of an authentic Greek Restaurant in Tn. I’m telling you the truth not even Nashville has something that compares. From the moment we got there till the moment we left we had the best customer service the best experience and excellent AUTHENTIC Greek food I’ve ever had in Tn. Starting off with GRILLED OCTOPUS , Spanikopita and Dolamands for appetizer and they even had Saganaki . My main course was Moussaka and it was excellent. Our waitress was personable and the Bartender made a mean Painkiller and Espresso Martini!! I’ve had in a restaurant in a long time. I was lucky enough to just stumble upon this in Google and we live 2hr away and I will gladly travel two hours in the future just to come here again except this time I’m bringing my family! This place has only been open a few months and I wish them and send them all the good juju because I WANT this restaurant to succeed and if they treat all their customers and serve the level of food and drinks the way we werre treated tonight they could easily become one of the top fine dining experiences in the area if not Tn.
Nick it was great to meet you and we wish you all the best and success with this endeavor. We will be back and can’t wait to dine here again!
08/30- We are back!!! We were in Cookeville for MuddyRoots and we were looking forward to dinner here again. At first there was a slight mixup and understanding from the bar. This was quickly rectified and I thought nothing more of it. The waitress apologized and even the bartender himself came over and explained what happened and I was like no worries!!! First thing that happened is they gave me the right drink (which was excelllent) and comped the drink. Now I thought that’s customer service and thanked him for it. Our dinner continued and just like our first meal there everything was excellent!!! Nick himself even came over and we talked for a second. Such a great experience now for the second time. Imagine my surprise when for this little mixup they COMPED our whole meal. I insisted on paying but he wouldn’t let me. I will def pay it forward Nick and I made sure to leave the waitress a very good tip. We will absolutely be back. Again the mixup was really not that big of a deal but we appreciate the genuine unexpected kindness and customer service!

The food is amazing here at this restaurant and the staff are very nice and respectful, my god the lamb chops melted like butter in my mouth would definitely recommend this for everyone and the prices are low for this quality of cooking you feel like your eating at a five star restaurant. And don’t leave without tasting the homemade baklava.

I can’t say enough about how awesome this place is. The food (all of it) is FAR ABOVE excellent and the service is phenomenal as well. The seats are very comfortable and it is a great place for a date night or to have a group meeting that requires ability to speak and be heard. All the staff are above average. Today our group of twelve was served by Caroline and she took care of all of us in a manner that was minimal disturbance to our meeting. The portion size is very generous and many people in our party had to get a to go box. I can’t fail to mention the owners Nick and Cathy that come out to check on the customers with a welcoming smile. Try this place and you will have a new favorite place.
