Honestly I’ve never seen this location so bad! Restrooms were absolutely filthy, toilets broken, no tissue, broken sick, handicap stall unavailable. It was so unbearably cold in there no one sat inside. Definitely needs improvements

This place is so overpriced! My wings weren’t tossed, they just poured the sauce on it. I had a couple of wings with only a drizzle. I got a wings combo (8 pieces), and it was $17.04. I will not return and would not recommend.

Passing through town and thought the name was cute so we stopped. I was wondering about a 3.8 star review average on Google, but I’m glad we came. The burger was juicy and delicious. The fries were seasoned wonderfully and didn’t even need ketchup. The combination bbq potato was so good. It was well baked. Even bits with no topping (just potato, salt, and pepper) were great. Some places over cook their potatoes leaving a hard shell. This was delicious to the last bite. And their bbq sauce is interesting. Tangy. I like it. Big thank you to the wonderful lady at the register for taking time out of training the new hire to give us a list of recommendations. We are so glad we stopped in.

We spent $63 on a very bad experience. We ordered food we have had at other PO locations and it was grossly subpar.
– my husband and son ordered a Diet Coke and a Coke Zero. The machine was not working and gave them flat drinks. The clerk offered them sweet tea as there was no unsweet tea. He opted to purchase two diet drinks from the cooler but the two fountain drinks we paid for were not removed from the ticket.

– No garlic sauce on Zesty Grilled Chicken Pita. My husband and I both ordered the “zesty” pita for the “zest”. The chicken was dry and cooked with no seasoning. I went to the counter to ask for some type of sauce. The cook said there was no garlic sauce. So knowing this he is continuing to cook and offer food that is not able to be presented as the menu states. He offered me a packet of Mayo. My zesty pita went in the trash.

We frequently eat at the Greensprings, Hoover, and Hueytown locations. This one is bad.

Service bad. Restaurant dirty. 6:00 pm on a Saturday. Drunk crowd hadn’t started yet.

Hey Purple Onion. We need a refund. Or at least a coke.

I went here but I wish I didn’t. The food is very mediocre and expensive for what it is. I got a salad and some onion rings which were both flavorless and I didn’t finish either of them. The staff seemed nice enough but I would recommend seeking out another restaurant unless you want flavorless, overpriced food in a generic fast food environment.

I’ve gotten the garden burger w. no mayo, add fried mushrooms. It was delicious! 10/10

Edit: I’ve ordered the same garden burger with no mayo or cheese, add ketchup and guacamole. No ketchup or guacamole to be found. Food is still delicious but I paid extra for a modification that wasn’t fulfilled. I wish they could’ve notified me.

Pros: Guy at the drive-thru was polite and thorough.

Cons: Drive thru took almost a full 20 minutes to make our food. I had to go inside and check on it and saw the cook behind the counter in the kitchen eating fries while making the food. Once we got it, my burger was squashed and overdone, fries feel stiff and stale and the Coke tastes watered-down.

Got three meals and paid almost 50 bucks but would likely have gotten better food at the McDonald’s on the street for 20 bucks less.

My boyfriend ordered chicken wings, the wings were literally raw inside & when I made the hostess and cooks aware, I got laughs and smiles from the cooks. I normally patronize the original location in homewood multiple times a week so I was very disappointed that purple onion has employees that don’t care about customers health.

The Purple Onion is one of those Birmingham spots that never tries too hard—it just is good. It’s the kind of place where you can walk in wearing anything from gym clothes to business casual, and no one bats an eye. The menu is a glorious mashup of Mediterranean, American, and Southern comfort food, which basically means you can get a gyro and cheese fries at 2 a.m. and somehow it all makes sense.
