I am writing to express my disappointment regarding a recent experience at the Panda Express located in Oak Park Mall. As a regular customer who visits this location nearly every week, I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and basic customer service I encountered.

During my visit, the fire alarm was actively sounding throughout the mall. Despite this, the store remained open and continued serving customers. I stood in line, ready to place my order, while a tall man in a red t-shirt, who I believe is one of your cooks, stood in-front of me. The cashier was ringing up other customers but did not acknowledge either of us. There was no greeting, no eye contact, no communication whatsoever.

After standing there for over a minute, still completely ignored, I expected at least a simple explanation such as, “We’re temporarily closed due to the alarm,” or “We’ll be right with you.” Instead, I was met with silence and indifference. The staff’s failure to acknowledge my presence or offer any guidance during a confusing situation was unacceptable.

This experience was not only frustrating but also deeply disappointing given my loyalty to this location. The lack of communication and courtesy especially during an emergency situation—reflects poorly on the store’s management and training standards.

I would like to know who is responsible for overseeing this location, as this level of service is far below what any customer should expect. I will not be returning to Panda Express, and I hope this feedback prompts a serious review of how customer interactions are handled at this store.

Sincerely,

I ordered pickup. A family member is currently in the hospital. It takes around ten minutes just to walk through the hospital and through the parking garage. I was already exhausted, but decided to do pickup. I got there and they had me my food, but no soda. I had to ask for my sis. I get back to the hospital and sit down to eat when I find that part of my order is missing. In order to either get the rest of the food or get a partial refund, I had to go all the way back there with my receipt to prove that I ordered the food (which would have been in the system). My son had already started to eat his food, so I wasn’t about to take it from him to take it back and show them that they shorted us. They should have just done a partial refund. Instead, they were rude. I won’t order there again.

They do not open at 11 like it says on the Internet!
You wait for 11 and then you wait 15 minutes or more past time! Usually would be fine, but I only have a certain amount of time today:(
I did talk to the worker

It was okay. I wanted a bowl but they gave me a plate. I didn’t want a plate. Ordered the noodles. It was okay. Also the honey walnut shrimp, which was crispy this time and beijing beef. Love the beef though. Overall, very oily so not suitable for anyone trying to lose weight. Unless you like fattening food like me then enjoy yourself. Would recommend the noodles instead of rice because it’s always a weird consistency. Not fully cook sometimes or too mushy. Beijing beef is my go to.

Good food. Theyre fast too. Unfortunately they dont feel the need to brew sweet tea ever. Ive been here atleast probably once a week for the last couple months. Not a single time have they had sweet tea ready. When i look at the tea vat. Its just clean and empty. Their just lazy.

The person working the food line needs to either be trained again or taken off the line completely. She was completely disorganized and unapologetic. I asked for a Bowl with chow mein and orange chicken. Maybe she would have heard me better if she would have looked up and acknowledged me even just once. Instead, she mumbled something about chow mein being out and “a couple” people in line ahead of me to get more. I chose to wait and complete chaos ensued. “Noemi” was barking out orders to everyone else, while not taking any responsibility for the fact that she got all of the orders confused. The only thing she was concerned about was making sure everyone was charged BEFORE the food was even made. Then, when I was showing the cashier that she overcharged me on the receipt, Noemi steps in on her little power trip and tells me I’m trying to steal someone else’s food and it’s wrong. That is NOT what my intent was. In fact, I was trying to inquire why THEY were stealing from me. I’m sure that was a tactic to throw me off so they could get away with overcharging me. She and her co-conspirator seemed used to the setup. I ended up walking out with a smaller portion than what I was charged for so beware of them literally stealing your money.

The food is what one should expect of a Chinese food buffet in a café court in a mall. Let’s have realistic expectations, people! I’m giving this place 5-stars for friendly, professional service. I showed up hangry and waited in line only to realize once my food was ready that I’d left my wallet at home (30 minutes away). I didn’t get the cashier’s name but he had long braids or dreads (pulled back, under a hat, of course) and he was super patient and kind as I struggled to update my bank account on ApplePay. Thank you, friend, for looking after me despite my own frustration and bad attitude!
