Finally made the decision to try Taqueria San Luis in James City last night. We were a bit disappointed that lengua wasn’t available and went with asada, alpastor, and birria. I’m not big on tacos and normally get a burrito and I’ve never liked the taste of corn tortillas, but the way they cooked it changed my mind! The amount of meat they put on the taco is quite generous. I like how they sautéed the onions. The diced onions and cilantro were fresh! My favorite was that birria broth! I sipped on that like it was liquid gold! I normally don’t crave for Mexican/Hispanic food the day after, but just talking about it makes me drool! I’ll definitely be back for that lengua.

The tacos are so good, filled up with meat, and the sauces are nice and spicy too. Price wise maybe not the cheapest if you have a large appetite for tacos but the quality is worth the pricing. The service was also quick!

Food is really good, the staff is helpful, polite, and thankful for your business. The flavors are a step above the competition. I recommend all of it! This is from our last visit.

After a rough 15 hours into my day, this was the absolute perfect place to visit. Entering in at 3:30 pm on taco Tuesday, I was able to get a table before the rush started and people came pouring in. I can see why it’s a popular spot- the tacos are delicious, generously low priced especially on their Tuesday deal, and the staff are super friendly. Even as more people entered in, it never felt too crowded. The tables are well spaced, and during the holiday season there was wonderful, festive decorations all around. Everywhere is very clean too, moreso than most places I’ve eaten. Each table was pristine, so I could sit wherever I wanted, and when I visited the restroom it was also pristine. Overall, from start to finish, from food to atmosphere, a very pleasant experience. I hope I travel this way again, so I can end another Taco Tuesday somewhere so sweet.

First time here, I Stopped in this morning to order lunch. No menus were posted besides a paper menu in front of the register. I grabbed a menu to review the food. No prices were listed. I asked the male cashier if they had menus with prices, he said no. I asked what are the prices of tacos and burritos. Tacos are $4, for ONE! I then asked for the price of the burritos, and he says $14.50! I said wow that pricey. The Female cashier who had just hung if the phone chimed in and stated they had just changed their prices. I simply said I understand that but it’s still pricey.
She sarcastically says, well you’re welcome to go somewhere else to eat if you’d like. And I politely said, thank you I sure will!
And walked out.
Looks like they’re hurting for business since the construction on HWY 70 has taken over and there’s only one way in and out of their establishment.
Would not recommend due to the service.
Prices do NOT need to be that high. Other local Mexican restaurants charge maybe $10-12 for Burros and maybe $2-3 for one taco or even 2 for $5! (and yes I will gladly go to Taco Loco thanks! )
Price gouging is ridiculous!
Claro Que soy hispana, pero a mi, No me engañarás como lo haces con la gente blanca!
No, gracias, no me apetece

We got the torta cubana, which was not only delicious but was also super big. And got three tacos, one pastor and two asada. I think these are the best tacos of asada that I have ever had. Made me feel like being back in Mexico. I will definitely be eating here my whole trip. Can’t wait to try more of what the menu offers

Stopped in to see how the Mexican cuisine compares to my old spots. It wasn’t a fair comparison since I was visiting burrito stands close to the border. But San Luis held its own very well.
From the interior, to the smells and tastes and costs.. It was indistinguishable. Very likely you won’t find anything better for the price in this area.
The al pastor burrito was huge for the cost, and the taco salad (carne asada) came in a delicious shell. I got a side of rice and taco salad as well, both were great.

You need a better drive through/takeout method. (Like Chick-fil-A)
Placed an order on the phone one hour ago, but still have to wait behind 10 cars and wait for another hour to pick food up…
