Excellent Thai food with great vegetarian options! The fresh spring rolls were a perfect start. We ordered the Panang Curry and the Drunken Noodles, both of which were wonderfully flavorful, though the Drunken Noodles definitely took the lead. Service was friendly and attentive. Portion size was slightly less compared to price. Overall, a highly enjoyable meal—8.5/10!”

Very authentic and delicious! I had the red curry lunch special (reasonably priced) and it did not disappoint. Also, the service was pretty fast. This place is great if you’re looking for something quick and cozy for lunch. This curry warms the soul on a cold day.

Thai Emerald has been our top, go-to Thai restaurant in the Charlotte area for years now. The service – amazing. The food – exquisite. My husband and I love their Masaman, Panang, and Green curries as well as their Pad See Ew, House Noodles, and Pad Thai. Saturdays are our most favorite time to go for the absolute deal of a meal; soup, spring roll, and entree for $11.50. You cannot beat that! The most authentic and budget friendly in this area. Staff are so welcoming and personable, they deserve all of the praise! Could not recommend this place more!!

My wife and I have been looking for good Thai since we moved to Charlotte. I was starting to give up hope. We were really pleasantly surprised by this place. The staff are friendly, nice and attentive. The food was excellent. I got an amazing crispy duck dish in red curry and my wife got Pad Thai. Fabulous!

Five stars, easily.

I absolutely love Thai Emerald. I found it while traveling in Charlotte after seeing great reviews on Google and stopped in on a cold, rainy day craving comfort food—and it completely delivered.

It’s in an unassuming strip mall, but inside it’s warm, well decorated, and welcoming. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. I started with the tom yum soup, which was amazing—deeply flavorful with a nice kick of spice, perfect for the weather. I’ve been back multiple times since, and I always start with the tom yum soup. I’ve now tried all the curries, and every one has been excellent.

Whenever I’m in Charlotte, this is a must-stop for me. The food feels authentic, the drinks and beers are reasonably priced, and everything is consistently great. Can’t recommend it enough.

First time experience, and it was rewarding. Complete a list of choices. Brightly decorated, colourful, excellent cleanliness, with a full service bar. Service is excellent. Very authentic food preparation. I enjoy very spicy food. Ordered normal level of heat, and it was hot. Be conservative ordering for the first time until you have a reference.
Give this place a try, it’s worth it. Enjoy!

Updated 9/2025: they give you egg drop soup for lunch OMGGGG

Updated 8/2025: lunchtime pad see ew is better as it comes with rice soup and a spring roll. They let me do extra sauce for the pad see ew and it tasted great!

Thai chicken wings are a must. Juicy and seasoned great. 10/10
Spring rolls were piping hot but mostly vegetable filled compared to cha gio. 9/10
Pad see ew was unfortunately lacking some sauce as it was dry, I had to ask for more sauce but it did make it better. 8/10
Thai fried rice was 10/10 and the chicken wasn’t dry at all.
Bangkok chicken was 10/10 if you like General Tso’s chicken

Glad I came back to try this place again after several years. It was a much better experience than in times past. Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and had to wait a while because this place did not open until noon, which is actually a bit late to open for lunch, but it was worth the wait.

I came with a taste for pad thai, but saw a picture of the thai fried chicken wings while I was waiting and decided to give them a try. I would never think to order fried chicken in a Thai restaurant because…..well, it’s Thai food! But I’m really glad I did. They were really good! Piping hot from the grease, they were nice and crispy. What really sets these off is the flavor. It’s clear they were well marinated because the meat had such a wonderful flavor. I didn’t need sauce or anything to eat with these. I tossed the sweet chili sauce that came with them and proceeded to massacre the wings….well done Thai Emerald, well done!

I also ordered the pad see ew with chicken. I appreciate that it had some true heat to the spice, which is very different than some other Asian restaurants in the area that wimp out on the spice levels. It had a good amount of vegetables and a nice flavor to the sauce. It was also served with a rice and chicken soup, and a spring roll for lunch. I ordered a sweetened ice tea that was done really well….not bitter and not too sweet. I’m sure I had way too many glasses of tea than I should have.

I’ll be returning again to try the pad thai, and I’m sure another order of wings. Customer service was really good and the ladies there go above and beyond to care for their patrons. The prices were pretty reasonable and I would definitely recommend this spot if you’re in the area.

We were looking for a good Thai restaurant and think we found one. We both had the green curry lunch special and Thai coffee. It was all delicious; just the right amount of heat and very tasty.

The restaurant was clean and service prompt and courteous. We will be back!
