Reviews
I absolutely love Thai Emerald. I found it while traveling in Charlotte after seeing great reviews on Google and stopped in on a cold, rainy day craving comfort food—and it completely delivered.
It’s in an unassuming strip mall, but inside it’s warm, well decorated, and welcoming. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. I started with the tom yum soup, which was amazing—deeply flavorful with a nice kick of spice, perfect for the weather. I’ve been back multiple times since, and I always start with the tom yum soup. I’ve now tried all the curries, and every one has been excellent.
Whenever I’m in Charlotte, this is a must-stop for me. The food feels authentic, the drinks and beers are reasonably priced, and everything is consistently great. Can’t recommend it enough.
Give this place a try, it’s worth it. Enjoy!
Updated 8/2025: lunchtime pad see ew is better as it comes with rice soup and a spring roll. They let me do extra sauce for the pad see ew and it tasted great!
Thai chicken wings are a must. Juicy and seasoned great. 10/10
Spring rolls were piping hot but mostly vegetable filled compared to cha gio. 9/10
Pad see ew was unfortunately lacking some sauce as it was dry, I had to ask for more sauce but it did make it better. 8/10
Thai fried rice was 10/10 and the chicken wasn’t dry at all.
Bangkok chicken was 10/10 if you like General Tso’s chicken
I came with a taste for pad thai, but saw a picture of the thai fried chicken wings while I was waiting and decided to give them a try. I would never think to order fried chicken in a Thai restaurant because…..well, it’s Thai food! But I’m really glad I did. They were really good! Piping hot from the grease, they were nice and crispy. What really sets these off is the flavor. It’s clear they were well marinated because the meat had such a wonderful flavor. I didn’t need sauce or anything to eat with these. I tossed the sweet chili sauce that came with them and proceeded to massacre the wings….well done Thai Emerald, well done!
I also ordered the pad see ew with chicken. I appreciate that it had some true heat to the spice, which is very different than some other Asian restaurants in the area that wimp out on the spice levels. It had a good amount of vegetables and a nice flavor to the sauce. It was also served with a rice and chicken soup, and a spring roll for lunch. I ordered a sweetened ice tea that was done really well….not bitter and not too sweet. I’m sure I had way too many glasses of tea than I should have.
I’ll be returning again to try the pad thai, and I’m sure another order of wings. Customer service was really good and the ladies there go above and beyond to care for their patrons. The prices were pretty reasonable and I would definitely recommend this spot if you’re in the area.
The restaurant was clean and service prompt and courteous. We will be back!
