The classic burger and fries was amazing!! Fresh and wholesome, 2 hamburger patties, 2 slices of cheese, and a soft brioche bun.
I got this Togo and the burger and fries were hot and fresh. I liked it so much I got it again the next night.
I used my hotel voucher, but the happy hour specials are really affordable too.
$8 for the classic burger

We walked in a large party, on the weekend early in the day, they seated is within 5 minutes! Food wasn’t too bad and didn’t take long. The service was okay. Beautiful weather we were able to enjoy lunch on the patio. Thank you!

Great Spot for a Relaxed Bite and Drinks!
We stopped by Grand Park Bistro during happy hour and had a fantastic experience. The burger was delicious—juicy and flavorful—and the drinks were perfectly crafted. The prices were very reasonable, especially for such a nice spot located right under the Essex Hotel. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, making it a great place to unwind. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

Everything about this place was okay. The name, the look of the place (at first), and the menu suggested an above average meal. But, after ordering and receiving our meal, it was all kind of lackluster and there was no love put into the food. I ordered Croque Madame which could have been a beautiful dish but, in reality, it was served simply as open-face ham sandwich with an egg on top and a side of fries. It looked a bit sloppily served. My wife had mushroom toast which was unseasoned and meh. She ordered a side of bacon and was served a bowl of curled up bacon. In fact, when served, the server put it on the table and stated …”and a bowl of bacon”. We ordered coffee with our breakfast and it was served lukewarm from an open thermos pot…you could see coffee grounds all over the rim of the pot being poured into my cup. The place had 75% of their tables open when we arrived but they made us wait anyway while the hostess cleaned other tables than the one we were actually seated at. I don’t know if they were short-staffed or what was going on. It was strange. The place had some good bones and was pretty but is a bit tired and in need of cleanup in areas and had a strange lack of identity. There was a foosball table next to the bar of this Bistro which was way out of place.

Our experience at the Grand Park Bistro was nothing short of disappointing. While it was convenient being located in our hotel, that’s about the only positive thing I can say.
The food was completely flavorless—whether you order chicken, meat, or eggs, everything tastes the same. Even the drinks were underwhelming. Coffee? $4. Want sugar and cream? Now it’s $5. Everything is an extra charge, and nothing feels worth the price. A small breakfast with coffee is an easy 35$! You ask to remove the bacon and add chicken and hope they ask you for an additional 2$
The service was equally poor. They don’t even bother refilling your coffee unless you explicitly ask (and good luck with that). We had a $16 daily credit as part of our stay, but it didn’t make up for the subpar food and terrible service.
This is not a place I’d recommend. Overpriced, tasteless food, and abysmal service—save your money and go somewhere else. They must be Joke!

I was greeted right away by a very friendly lady at the front and my family and I were lead to our tidy booth. I ordered a 6oz steak with fries. It arrived very quickly and was hot and elegant looking. The steak was a little overcooked but not enough to send back. Delicious crust grilled all over and a moist, chewy inside. My wife had an Impossible which she said was great while my daughter-in-law had a burger and fries which she enjoyed thoroughly. Our waiter was fantastic, ensuring our drinks never got too low. Fast, friendly service all around. We looking forward to trying breakfast soon.

Was staying at the Meridien Essex so my family ate here multiple times. The bartenders were lovely and made my French 75 perfectly! Dinner and breakfast here was also solid. The bottomless mimosas were too good. I definitely can see myself staying at the hotel just to get the bottomless mimosas again. All of the staff here were very friendly and accommodating for my family.

Perhaps best described as a place of convenience. Given the incredible food options in Chicago, I wouldn’t recommend it.
My veggie scramble was just eggs topped with a bit of salsa — hardly any actual vegetables. My wife’s Eggs Benedict arrived cold. Our guests had the French toast and the American breakfast and didn’t raise any complaints, so some items may be more reliable.
Service was also disappointing. Our server disappeared for a long stretch after dropping off our food. When he returned, he asked if anyone had checked in on us while he was gone. After we said no, he apologized and offered to comp the next round of drinks, which we appreciated.

Food was very average and quite pricey for the quality offered. Poached eggs and potatoes were cold, and it took at least 20 minutes for the food to be served. It was nice of them to add avocado to the Lake Benedict when we requested it, but they didn’t have toothpicks. We later discovered better places nearby with better food options and prices.

I am in town for some work meetings and this restaurant was just a block away from the hotel. We had reservations and we were seated right away. Sarah did a great job as our server and everyone was happy with their meals. I had the Pastrami Salmon (never had that before) which was cooked just right, and it came with broccolini. The portions were okay, not enough for me to have leftovers, but that’s okay since I am staying at a hotel. This was a good choice and I might return next time I’m in town.
