One of the first things you see when you walk in are the beautiful vines growing along the ceiling, but if that’s not your thing, there is another room you can sit in that is spacious and welcoming. The menu has plenty to choose from including burgers and everything comes out fresh and delicious. These are some of the best chicken tacos I have ever had. The chicken is super tender, juicy and lightly seasoned. The plating isn’t anything fancy, but the flavor and quality will keep you coming back.

Been coming here for 25 years, and not once have i been disappointed. Best sopapillas and their food is awesome. Every time I go here the food is consistently good and their menu is fire! I travel the country, and have been to hundreds of Mexican restaurants, and this is by far my favorite and in my opinion the best mexican food restaurant in the country. Thank you Taco Sal for being everything food should be. Plus their staff is always polite and their prices are exta reasonable.

The chimichanga I ordered was tasty, but a little too spicy for my palate. Food seemed “wetter” than what I’m accustomed to as well, but still tasty. Dining area was no frills, just non-descript booths and tables/chairs. Service was fairly prompt and friendly. There was a person fentanyl leaning right outside our window for the duration of our meal, which added to the character of the area. Would eat at again, but would ask for less spice.

I’m not sure why this place isn’t busier than it is. The food is pretty good. The prices are great. The food has definitely improved tremendously since the last time I was here, which was probably about 20 years ago. The place is not the fanciest so I’m assuming that’s why because the food is great.

The carne adovada and the beef enchiladas are my recommendations, or the combination plate. If you want to get whole beans, make sure you ask, otherwise they bring you refried beans. The chicken is okay, but I wouldn’t recommend.

The red chili is really good but so is the green. The sopapillas were good and the chips and salsa were good.

They have several combination plates that give you a really good variety of their food and all of it is good.

The tamales are really good, the ground beef that you put in the enchiladas or tacos is good. The shredded brisket is also really good. The chili rellenos are delicious!

The staff is super friendly.

My first Sopaipilla. I don’t know if they are this good everywhere, but they are tasty here. So, I guess for me these are the best.

Service is very friendly. The place is a bit dated, but it’s been around since 1960 and their focus on the food is well placed.

We left having eaten too much food, but it was so good.

No noticeable Breaking Bad stuff, but more than worth a stop.

Even though they close at 7:00 PM, they were kind enough to take my order. I ordered the #22, and the beans and rice tasted fresher than I have experienced elsewhere. The food was quite flavorful, and the chile had a delightful kick. I am completely satisfied.

I was in a party of four at 11 am on a Saturday. We arrived right at 11 am when they were scheduled to open. They opened a few minutes late, but it was not a concern since the food and service were excellent. Me and another member of our party and I ordered the carne adovada breakfast with over-easy eggs. The red chile with carne adovada flavors was the best I have tasted in Albuquerque. I was pleasantly surprised to see refried beans on the plate instead of whole beans that I usually see in Albuquerque. The portion sizes were great, too, because I had enough to take home for another meal. The sopapillas were excellent as well. I highly recommend this restaurant and plan to visit again to try more entrees on the menu.

Came for lunch. Got Combo Sal, and a Avacodo bacon cheese burger. Son said burger is one of his now favorites. The combo was more than I could finish. Highly recommend. Nice chill restaurant for good food. Omar was very friendly and attentive. Answered couple questions we had. Thanks!
