Colt’s BBQ & Steakhouse

  4.4 – 519 reviews   • Barbecue restaurant

Colt’s BBQ & Steakhouse brings together the best of two classics—slow-smoked barbecue and hand-cut steaks—served with no shortcuts and plenty of character. From wood-smoked meats cooked low and slow to juicy steaks grilled just the way you like them, every dish is built on quality, flavor, and craftsmanship. House-made sides, bold seasonings, and rich, smoky aromas set the tone, while a warm, down-to-earth atmosphere makes everyone feel right at home. At Colt’s, it’s not just about barbecue or steak—it’s about hearty meals, honest cooking, incredible wine, spirits and cocktails that results in an experience that keeps guests coming back for more.

Best BBQ I’ve found in Florida so far!

If you’re on the hunt for incredible barbecue in Florida, Colt’s Pig Stand in New Smyrna Beach is an absolute must-visit. After trying a few barbecue joints across the Sunshine State, I can really say: SO FAR this is hands-down the best brisket I’ve had to date.

At Colt’s, you’re given the option of regular or marbled brisket, and both are fantastic depending on your preference. The marbled version, in particular, is rich and tender, yet never greasy. The brisket here is always savory, incredibly tender, and perfectly cooked—not overly smoked, not dry, just barbecue bliss. It’s a textbook example of how brisket should be done, and you can tell that this place takes serious pride in their smoking process. It reminds me of Texas brisket, and that’s a mouthful!

While the brisket is the star of the show, the smoked barbecue chicken is also excellent—juicy, flavorful, and nicely seasoned without being overdone. Their pulled pork, pulled chicken, and smoked sausage all hit the mark as well. Everything I’ve tried so far has been consistently good, and you really can’t go wrong with any protein on the menu.

Serving sizes are generous, ranging from $20 to $25 per plate, but here’s the kicker: each plate easily makes two, sometimes even three full meals. You’ll leave full and still have plenty to take home. Meals come with a couple of well-prepared sides (the mac and cheese is a personal favorite) and your choice of Texas toast or other equally delicious bread options.

The staff is always welcoming, friendly, and quick—from the moment you walk in, you’re greeted and seated efficiently, and service stays fast and attentive throughout your meal. The restaurant is also consistently clean and tidy, from the floors to the restrooms, and the atmosphere strikes a great balance between casual comfort and southern charm.

My only wish for Colt’s Pig Stand? Wi-Fi. It would make the perfect place for a casual lunch meeting or remote work session. But aside from that one tiny detail, I honestly can’t find anything else for a wish list.

Colt’s Pig Stand is a true gem in New Smyrna Beach. If you’re craving authentic, high-quality barbecue with portions that justify the price, look no further. This is the real deal.

I love Colt’s BBQ & Steakhouse. I go there every time I visit NSB which is several times a year. I last visited Colt’s on Christmas Eve and had the brisket dinner plate. It was fantastic. Highly recommend. Colt’s also has a cool little bar area with some seating outside too. Great place.

Best BBQ in NSB! Wife said one of the best steaks she’s had. The beer and bbq from the bar outside was a solid choice!

I have been a pitmaster in my culinary career so please be advised that my review may come from very high expectations and experience.

Overall, a well decorated, clean restaurant with typical but nice ambiance. I had the three meat plate with the baby back ribs ($4 up charge), pulled pork, and marbled smoked brisket. The flavors of each meat were good, but the pork and beef were a bit on the dry side. Ribs were tender, although not completely “fall off the bone.” All meats were well smoked rather well and had good flavor. The BBQ sauces came in a few varieties and were all very good. The collard greens were surprisingly good and fell mostly inline with southern tradition. Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. Corn pudding was amazing and not overly sweet. Portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. They have good lunch and dinner specials too. Add in a full bar and you have a solid bbq joint….solid, but not stellar. Definitely not a waste of $.

Our particular server was not the best, although adequate. She was a somewhat curt and off putting in her attitude. Other servers seemed very polite and attentive however.

Overall a solid although not stellar BBQ joint – I would definitely return and recommend to others.

Delicious food. We tried the the BBQ chicken, ribs, and pulled pork sandwich. Everything was very tasty. This place blew us away, we couldn’t stop eating once we started. I would make the trip to visit when I’m back in town.
The servers were friendly as well. The bathrooms were clean .

If you are in town and need a BBQ fix this is the place!

Everything is sticky! We’ve been coming here every year since they opened and this year was a disappointment. The backs of the chairs, all the condiments, under the floors, and the tables all had a sticky film to them. It’s a shame. If the dining room is that grimy now, imagine the state of the kitchen. Service was okay, seemed short staffed. No one came by to check the table or I would have mentioned the stickyness. I mention no one coming to the table to check on us, because our order came out overdone twice and by the third time, the server said that the manager suggests ordering another cut of meat, because they can’t prepare the filet again for us. We opted for a pulled pork sandwich and a BBQ covered sauce bottle was unpleasant when grabbing. Not sure if they will be here next year if they can’t clean up their act. If you cant keep snowbirds, you wont keep the locals.

Ok so we got our food and I can give a better review after not being allowed to take a birthday shot at the bar. Food came out 2 items at a time for our 15 top and the whole process took 15 mins so half of the table finished by the time the rest came out (almost) or had cold food. Still waiting on drinks that were ordered and re ordered multiple times. I’m not a fan and frankly I’m pissed. Won’t be back oh yeah the general manager still hasn’t check on our table: they are clearly understaffed and need a new general manager. Sorry but honestly I’ve never posted a crappy review like this but honestly
This place was not worth driving to beachside from Edgewater. Rather eat Dustin’s and stay close cause juice wasn’t worth the squeeze.

The Burnt End and Pulled Pork Sandwich was very good and the Barnyard Bournon Pork Sandwich was as well! Great flavor for sure!
The sides were upgraded to Onion Rings and Loaded Tots….the Tots definitely should have been warmer as the cheese wasn’t even melting, there was a good amount of bacon and sources though.
The Onion Rings were very intriguing, the batter reminded us of a chicken nugget type of coating. It wasn’t bad, but perhaps applied a bit too thick.
Service was outstanding as Nichole took great care of us!
The decor was fitting for a BBQ place..nice looking wood theme and a very well stocked bar area.

Seriously exceeded my expectations. We stopped for lunch today and I’m so glad we found this place. My husband and I both had the pulled pork sandwich lunch special. Only $10.99… great deal in todays standards. Bun was fantastic, buttery, and crisp. Baked beans were sweet and coleslaw was seriously the best I have tasted in years. Atmosphere was beautiful and our waitress Mary Beth was very friendly and fast. We found a new place!

We are sitting at a table with 15 people ordering food at my nephews 21st birthday. While they are finishing ordering food we thought it would fun to order a shot at the bar for his birthday. And we were told we couldnt and had to sit at the table and order from our server “because that’s how restaurants work” This came from the general manager. So we are going next door to have one. Thanks for the bday shot Colts boo I am not a fan
