This is my go to restaurant in the area. Luigi, his family and staff are incredibly friendly and the food is delicious. I always go with one of the specials and I have never been disappointed. On our last visit, he had cheesecake which was so fluffy and delicious. I have also used the restaurant for catering, and that has also been phenomenal.

Just left having dinner. Have to say…. Excellent food! Luigi is the best! Was so polite to myself and family. He even asked us to put away our cell phones and enjoy the time as a family. Will definitely be going back soon! Thank you again.

Quaint spot in the Carmel Hamlet. Brick oven style pizza and homemade Italian dishes. Don’t forget desert and zapolis.

Luigi and his family and staff work incredibly hard to deliver the most delicious food in the area. We are new to the neighborhood and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pizza and take out items as well as all the dine in options. A special note that the desserts are made by Luigi’s wife and the ones we have sampled are drool worthy the best being the pistachio cake. It’s unique and unforgettable! We are regulars now and truly enjoy all the great offerings.

Place is small but inviting, it fills you with this warmth. The staff is super friendly, this old man that serves you is the best part of the restaurant other than the food of course. He has the best comments and treats you like family, he runs the whole service and does a great job at it. Food is amazing, you would not be disappointed. They start you off with some homemade bread and garlic olive oil and it just builds up from there. Everything on the menu that I’ve had so far has been delicious. Penne vodka, lobster ravioli, husband loves seafood so zuppa di pesce fra diablo is a must, fried calamari and much more are great.

A quaint Italian Restaurant run by a passionate Luigi, along with many family members. The food is so good, service is prompt, the other diners seem to also be enjoying their meals. You can have just about anything that you would like, or prepared the way that you like. I only wish that the restaurant was had a party room. I can imagine hosting a Christening, adult birthday, repast or rehearsal dinner. Luigi is very engaging, his wife makes outstanding desserts, the portions are large and delicious! Give it a try.

This is a long time favorite. All the food is terrific. Last time I ate here, we ordered the Pistachio Cake made by the owners wife. My sincere apologies for not taking a photo of it before we began to devour it but the last photo says it all. EAT HERE! HAVE DESSERT! You owe it to yourself!

My wife and I have occasionally eaten at this restaurant as the food has been consistent over the years. We don’t go as often because Luigi doesn’t answer you half the time and continues to show favoritism with other customers. Our recent visit was even more unpleasant as he was beyond rude and dismissive. He treated the nearby customers completely different than us. All Customers should be treated with respect. We know many people who refuse to go there because he makes them feel uncomfortable. He ultimately needs to step down and let his son who’s very courteous and professional take over.

I just moved to Mahopac and been looking for an authentic Italian restaurant and great pizza. I was close to this restaurant coming from the supermarket and decided let’s try it for dinner. Luigi is so great reminded me of my dad or a grandfather a traditional Italian man who is just so warm, welcoming, friendly, offered me a glass of wine on the house to welcome me to the neighborhood he gave me so much more then what I ordered just made me feel so at home just the nicest man I’ve ever met that owns a restaurant.
The food was superb, the pasta fiagoli was just like mom used to make oh how I got flash back to my childhood and I can’t find any restaurant who knew how to make that soup but they made it perfectly!!! The chicken cutlet parmigiana was delicious I don’t have a big appetite but I ate so much !! The salad was delicious love arugula and the garlic knots so tasty and fresh. The sauce is real marinara sauce my kids was like wow everything so fresh and delicious.
Love the sausage roll just like mom used to make with red peppers not green peppers. Sausages chopped finely with the mozzarella cheese in the bread it was amazing!!! The cheesecake was just beyond delicious just made me feel like I was eating mom’s food again. Luigi is a real Italian man who just has the greatest hospitality I’ve ever seen from a restaurant!
This is our to go place for now on!!!
Trust me when I tell you pizza the food everything he makes is just delicious love the fire wood pizza want real authentic Italian food with fresh mozzarella and fresh meat sauce etc take it from this Italian woman who grew up in a real authentic Italian household this is food that taste like it’s straight from Italy and it’s like being around family. Luigi even helped me to my car with the food helped me put it in my car he’s amazing thank you Luigi. He’s the best !!!!! Was worth every dime and have left overs that’s how much food he made for us! Delicious!!!

Luigi’s is true Italian culture in the United States, right down to the excellent cuisine and family service. The owner makes sure you’re taken care of, and provides great, personal service. The Chicken Masala is delicious. I will be sure to stop in again next time I’m in town, and tell my friends about it, too.
