Today was one of those days that I just had to have some soul food. As I was heading down the road, I drove past Ms. Movale’s Eatery and decided to turn around and head inside.
Walking into Ms. Movale’s Eatery I was excited. The staff was very friendly and very welcoming. The ambiance was vibrant. The restaurant was clean. And the menu was robust. As this was my first time, I took a moment to scroll the menu in full as there were so many good options. I was torn between Whiting and Wings but finally decided on the wing dinner. The dinners come with 2 sides so I chose Macaroni and Cheese and Cabbage.
I went to the cashier, placed my order, paid, and was on my way to wait for my food. As I waited, I enjoyed all the original artwork on the walls and the music that was playing. Though it was almost closing time, the team still kept an upbeat mood and tone going.
When my food was ready, I got my plate and was out the door.
As soon as I got in the car all I could smell was soul food goodness. Oh my gosh! I smelled seasoning salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and a hint of season all. Babeeeeeeeeee! I was ready to eat.
Opening up my tray, the wings were wingettes, however, they were fried to golden brown perfection and seasoned for the tongue pleasing gods. The chicken was hot and fresh and just had to taste one. I just wanted to taste one as I was hungry and just needed something to hold me until I got home. Well, to my surprise, somehow all of my wings were gone by the time I got home. Lmbooooooooooooooooo. Yes yall. I ate every single one on the ride home. Them things were thangannnnnnn.
The Macaroni and Cheese was homemade. The flavor profile was exactly as it should be. The texture was creamy and the noodles were tender but not too soft. I would definitely get it again.
The cabbage was shredded which made it perfect as a pairing to the wings. It was tender with a hint of crunch just like I like it and the flavor profile had a hint of sweetness. Whew! Whoever made this cabbage understood the entire assignment because babeeeeeeeee. This was cabbage done right.
All is all, my experience at Ms. Movale’s Eatery was good enough that I will be back. I need to try the fish, pork chops, ox tails, and chicken sandwich. Ha!!!!

I was looking for a new soul food place. When I arrived I was like I’ve eaten here before when they first opened. I was like why I haven’t came back? Anyway I ordered oxtail dressing yams cabbage they forgot my cabbage. The oxtail was too salty!! Then I remembered why I never came back. Let’s talk about this chicken, for the money you spend the could give you a whole chicken wing at least a drumett!! The chicken too salty! Greens nawww. I’m good. If you have high blood pressure don’t go. Oxtails are expensive and they were so salty I couldn’t eat them!! It’s a No for me!!

We try to support small businesses but we were so disappointed today!. We have eaten here twice in the past and the food was decent. We wanted some good fried chicken. So we ordered two fried wing plates. I had macaroni and yams hubby had the Mac and cabbage. First off opening the box seeing the bite size so called wings was a shocker not even finger length and the chicken tasted like it was bad. We expected 3 whole wings. I was scared to finish it. The Mac had almost no cheese so it was like bland noodles. The cornbread was like a tough sponge, and who makes Crunchy yams, they were not even done. The best thing on the plate was the cabbage and it was too sweet. 27.00 wasted cause we out literally buying more food cause we cant stomach this. I could deal with ok food but this was horrible.

While the food arrived well-packaged via Grubhub, unfortunately, that was the only positive aspect of the experience. The quality of the food was disappointing, to say the least. I can confidently say it was some of the worst I’ve tasted since arriving to Georgia. Despite the high 3.9 rating, the reality was far from it. Everything tasted like it came straight out of a can, lacking any semblance of care or flavor. The blurry picture captures my frustration while documenting the experience. I won’t be ordering from here again, and I strongly advise others to avoid it as well.

Me & my gf stopped by here because we seen soul food which we haven’t had in a min. I ordered wings which was good but as for my gf she was highly disappointed as you can see I would too. She ordered the veggie plate & salmon cake. The make Mac n cheese & potato salad bland. The corn hard & burnt up. Yam soupy & sweet enough to give you diabetes. Last the salmon cake taste fresh out the water with cornbread crust. The cashier had an attitude probably knew the soul food wasn’t good lmao. Zero star really

Don’t wast your time. I was on my way to the smoothie place, and I seen movales, I said why not? I could always use another good soul food spot, well that was a mistake, should have gotten the smoothie. The portions were so small, I’m still hungry, the yams were half cooked and hard, the Mac was watered down and lacked flavor, the fish was salty but edible. The best past was the hot sauce they gave me. Which came in handy, added flavor to this lack luster meal. And the burnt biscuit they gave me. They could have kept! See pictures, I even tried to take a lil bite, tasted even worse. They should be ashamed for calling this “soul food”!

Visited this location for the third time tonight. The first time was about 2 years ago. The place was highly recommended so I thought I would give it a try. I had the turkey wing meal. It was terrible. I tried it again a year ago to give it another chance… my daughter threw up immediately afterwards. The food was bland and apparently under cooked. So my friend suggested the place again today. We walked in to the host being immediately rude. It felt personal because the customers after us were greeted with at least a dry “I’ll be right with you” we ordered and clearly we haven’t been there in a while the way we were checking out the menu on the wall. After every order she asked “is that it” very rudely. Like calm down ma’am! You don’t have a line. There was no customer service whatsoever. The wings were tiny and tasted awful. The sauce was a paste that taste like bbq mixed with hot sauce but we ordered hot-lemon pepper. Everything about this place was a big-ugh to say the least. We also ordered meat loaf with potatoes. Why is there gravy on meat loaf and not Ketchup or in LOAF form. Anyway, It’s not edible and tasted like boiled meat with powdered space potatoes. The Mac and cheese is a joke. How is this allowed to be called soul food? This is someone’s aunt that should and need to definitely stay out of the kitchen. I wouldn’t feed this type of FROZEN TV DINNER to my dog. Never will patronize this establishment again. Food is too expensive to be playing these type of games with people just to throw it away. How about we throw this place away. Sorry not sorry
