☀️ The Perfect Morning Ritual in Pismo Beach Donuts, Coffee & Ocean Air ☕️

There’s something special about starting the day the right way, and for me, that usually means a fresh donut, a good cup of coffee, and a walk by the ocean. Surfside Donuts and Coffee has become my go-to morning stop whenever I’m in Pismo Beach.

The routine is simple and perfect: grab a sweet donut, pair it with morning coffee, and head straight toward the beach and the wooden deck. From there, everything slows down in the best way possible. You can breathe in the salty ocean air, feel the gentle warmth of the sun, and just enjoy the moment. Seagulls flying overhead, surfers catching waves, and people strolling along the boardwalk it’s classic California coastal energy at its finest.

Every visit feels effortless and relaxed. The donuts are fresh and satisfying without being overcomplicated, exactly what you want in the morning. The coffee pairs perfectly with the sweetness, making it an ideal combo before a beach walk. This isn’t just about grabbing food it’s about creating a small morning ritual that sets the tone for the entire day.

Whenever I visit Pismo Beach, this is how I like to begin. A donut in hand, coffee nearby, ocean views all around, and no rush to be anywhere else. Simple pleasures, done right.

If you’re looking for a calm, feel-good way to start your day in Pismo, this spot delivers every single time. ✌

Came here for the vegan donuts on Friday and was not disappointed. The selection was good, four flavors, and the French Toast donut was delectable. I considered walking back just for another one.

If you’re in Pismo craving vegan donuts on Friday, check this spot out. Their brewed coffee is even pretty good and reasonably priced.

Super yummy donuts. I was so excited about it I forgot to take a pic until I was half way done lol. I got the salted caramel and maple bacon. Both were so delicious. Cashier was super friendly. Lots of seating. This is my normal donut spot when I’m in Pismo.

They have raised vegan donuts on Fridays! We got vegan: Apple fritter, vanilla bean glazed, pink sprinkle, and salted caramel glazed. We liked them all but the pink sprinkle and salted caramel were my favorite. The pink frosting was fresh and soft and the salted caramel was so caramelly-tasting, but like real caramel, not artificial at all. Honestly they were the best donuts of my life and I will be back. I just wish I didn’t have to wait until next Friday I think they have at least a vegan gf donut every day but normal vegan donuts are only on Friday

Top tier donut shop. So fresh and flavorful. There was a water advisory all weekend, and Surfside took the financial hit to close all weekend to ensure customer safety. We are so thankful they prioritized our safety, so we HAD to come the first day they were back.. and wow was it worth the wait! The owner was in there working herself & the service was fantastic. I added a shaken espresso latte drink they were advertising and it was AMAZING. The s’mores and salted caramel were my favs.

Finally…and what an experience. We have heard about this location and made several attempts to get there but finally we got to taste great quality donuts that cannot be found anywhere else in the city. Chocolate cake, Maple Bars, “Blackberry Lemon Jelly”…all came home with us . We had so many choices and glad we did. If you’re making plans to go to Pismo Beach, you should definitely put Surfside Donuts on your list.

This place is insane! In a good way. Went there two days in a row. Went in for coffee, but ended up getting donuts both days. Coffee was hand crafted and great, quality coffee, made by friendly staff and if you dream of donuts like me, you will not be disappointed. Logo designed by the same man that designed my logo, none other than the legend Jimbo Phillips. Don’t miss out!❤️❤️

We decided to stop by on a Monday morning and boy was that a treat! Any donut you get will be delicious. I highly recommend the French toast, maple bacon and vanilla bean donuts. We also ordered the Boston creme donut, love a custard filled surprise. The vanilla Chai tea was the perfect choice that went great with the French toast donut. I recommend stopping by earlier than later, they will run out of their popular donuts.

Stopped by here early in the morning on our drive to Cambria for our caffeine fix, and heck, we’re already in a doughnut shop so why not a sugar fix as well! Lol!
The lady was very friendly and very helpful and could handle the crowd single handedly and was actually quick with her service. Very friendly, she chattered with us while we were having our great morning “fixes”. They do have vegan and gluten free doughnuts and that’s what I think got them the popularity. The doughnuts we ate were very good!
The place was small and nondescript, but has this definitely beachy vibe!

I wanted to love this place. But I think I went at the wrong time. I travel the world to try donuts. It’s a hobby. I have been to over 100 donuts shops in the country. Let’s start with pros. Great selection of donuts. Great look to the donuts. The staff was 5 stars. Extremely friendly and helpful. I walked in and wanted to get one of each, but ended up with about 8 to try. The prices of their donuts is also very good. Cons. The staff missed a donut I ordered and paid for in the box, but I can let that slide. The biggest issue was that the donuts were not fresh. They were easily a day old or baked the evening before and put out first thing in the morning. Now I understand that most people would not be able to tell, or think that the donuts tasted great… well they were tasty. They had good flavor, but the cake and dough was dense which made the tasty donuts not enjoyable to me. I prefer fresh, same day donuts, that will melt in your mouth. I suspect that if you go later in the day you might get a fresh batch, but I may also suspect that they make their donuts in the evening, let them sit, refrigerate, then present in the morning and close when they sell out. Then Repeat. If you don’t mind this in your donuts, then yes, visit them, they deserve the business for their efforts, but for me, I’ll try some of the alternatives in the area next time.
