I’m visiting family from out of town, and this experience was truly a highlight of my trip. I also appreciated the festive holiday décor, which added a welcoming and enjoyable touch to the atmosphere.
We came back the next day and were not disappointed.
The omelet was a very large portion, but very salty.
Waitress was nice and tons of seating around 8am. Very dark inside, walking up, I actually thought they were closed.
I ordered food Saturday 7/12 to go at the front counter and was charged a 3.99% card fee and a 2% hospitality fee. These fees were not disclosed anywhere — not on the menu, the wall, or at the register.
When I politely questioned the charges, the manager said, “Everyone in the county charges these fees,” but admitted there were no posted signs. She initially offered to refund the card fee, but then said she couldn’t process it. In the end, I received no refund at all, even though the fees were added without my consent or any notice.
This kind of surprise charging is a deceptive business practice and could be a violation of SC consumer protection laws. It’s not about the $0.88 or $0.44 — it’s about:
• Transparency
• Fair business practices
• Consumer rights
I didn’t dine in, but was still hit with a hospitality fee. And after acknowledging the issue, they refused to correct it. That’s not right.

⏳ Wait Time
Another thing: the wait time for food is consistently long.
Today, my takeout order took approximately 30 minutes.
I’ve also visited 1 time before with family and waited over 45 minutes, then food came out in 10–15 minute intervals between each person.

️ Price
My order — Jasmine Grits with French toast & bacon, plus a side of tater tots for my son — was $25 with no drink.
I understand quality comes at a cost, but when prices are already high, extra hidden fees make it feel unfair.

Final Thought
Don’t get me wrong — the owner is warm, kind, and hospitable. She even prayed with us the 1st time we met, which meant a lot. Overall this review is meant to be constructive, not harsh. There’s real potential here @ LiL Jazzi’s Cafe, with just some areas that need attention.
If these fees had been disclosed and the wait times more reasonable, this review would be very different. But as a customer, I believe in standing up for honest practices. If no one speaks up, nothing changes.
⭐️⭐️⭐️Update to OWNER 7/14…
Hey, I totally get it — fee, tax, etc. I understand it’s a legal charge. But for people who aren’t from Florence, like myself (and based on your reviews, quite a few of your other customers), this additional charge feels unusual.
The issue isn’t about whether the hospitality tax is legal — it’s about transparency. A 2% hospitality tax may be standard in your city, but it’s not common in many other places, so it would go a long way to simply post a sign explaining the charge. It’s a small step that would greatly improve customer clarity and reduce confusion — especially for out-of-towners.
Also, there was no sign posted for the credit card surcharge, which is legally required to be disclosed before purchase. That’s where things move from surprising to potentially non-compliant.
Posting clear signage would be a great step toward better customer service and communication.
I uploaded videos and pics. No signs posted is what brought me here.
