My partner and I popped into Chancery Lane for dinner last night while visiting from Perth. My goodness, from the moment we walked into the door to the moment we walked out, the experience was next level. I have anaphylaxis to diary and an allergy to gluten and miso so trying to find places to eat, especially high end, is very hard. We planned on popping in for just a drink and nibbles but ended up staying for hours and having many drinks and so much food. Our lovely server (I think her name was Cartier) made me feel so comfortable and was extremely understanding of my allergies. She and the chef worked together to ensure I could still eat some delicious food. Nothing tasted like it was missing anything and my partner even said my dessert was better than his. I am so grateful for the effort the team made, it really warms my heart when I’m treated so nicely at a restaurant despite having complicated allergies.
As someone who’s worked hospitality I will also comment on how amazing the whole team works together. When our server was busy, her colleagues ensured our drinks and food was always topped up.
The vibe of the restaurant was perfect and very comfortable.
I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more! Thank you guys for having us and creating a beautiful experience.

A top class experience. Nothing could be faulted by me of the team at CL. What impressed me probably the most was the approach by one of the staff towards some eager diners who wanted to photograph themselves in front of some key artwork in the restaurant. A subtle reminder to them was delivered to stop using their flash so as not to annoy other diners. Well handled, not rude but forceful enough to remind them of the required etiquette of the establishment. It reflected the staff willing to uphold the experience for everyone.

Duck and dessert was amazing! Loved the crispy evenly cooked skin and perfectly pink meat. Atmosphere is moody and dark but I love that. Might be weird to say but the toilets are incredible!

I went to eat here tonight for a friend’s birthday, and I noticed an improvement in the food compared to our last visit. The service was excellent, and everyone was very attentive. My favorite dishes were the duck and steak. While it wasn’t the best I’ve had in Melbourne, it comes close, and the quality is great. We ordered the ribeye steak, which was delicious.
The entrees were enjoyable as well, especially the little pie with salmon roe; the flavors and the pastry were outstanding. The corn fritters were quite basic, and the parfait had a sweet taste, but overall, it was good. The presentation of the food was exceptional.

I came here tonight for a friend’s birthday and noticed the food has improved since our last visit. The service was fantastic, with staff being attentive and welcoming throughout the evening. My highlights were the duck and the steak, not the absolute best I’ve had in Melbourne, but very close, and the quality was impressive. We ordered the ribeye steak and it was cooked beautifully.
The entrees were enjoyable too, especially the small pie topped with salmon roe; the pastry and flavors really stood out. The corn fritters were fairly simple, and the parfait leaned on the sweeter side, but still pleasant. Overall, the presentation of each dish was stunning and added to the experience.

Pretty place to grab lunch from especially if you’re availing yourself of their weekday lunch special. I had the three course for $65pp. I had the salmon fillet as my starter and that was nice. The foccacia was very buttery and crispy. Yum! For the main I had the barramundi. The skin on that barramundi was very crispy and yummy too. However the fish itself I felt it was a bit under seasoned but that’s fine because the taste from the lentils Brussels sprouts that came with it adds on the “salt” you’ll need that the fish lacked. There’s also a complimentary house bread provided with a yummy smoky butter served alongside which is extra nice!

This European Bistro served up a lovely dinner experience. Great service paired with fine food. The scallops and focaccia were the perfect start before diving into the tender slices of ribeye and glaze. Seefood sensational.

My wife and I came here tonight to celebrate her birthday and we were so amazed. The food was absolutely amazing and I love my steak. I asked for medium rare which was cooked to perfection on the grill. I also love the salmon as my entree. Everything we had tonight was fresh and tasty. The restaurant also offers a variety of drinks including various type of Gin, Vodka, wines and spirits. Great atmosphere and it is a perfect place for special event, celebration and dates. If you would like to dine in a legit western restaurant in Melbourne CBD, this is one of my go to restaurant for sure.

The setting definitely stood out, very unique and unlike any other restaurant I’ve been to. The staff were absolutely lovely, which added to the experience. While the space was beautifully styled and aesthetic, it wasn’t quite my taste. Personally, it felt a bit too dark for my liking.
Now onto the food. Oddly enough, my favourite thing was the complimentary bread and butter, which says a lot. The entrees were quite good, but things went a bit downhill with the mains. The barramundi was unfortunately a big miss and two of my friends had ordered it, possibly the worst we all have ever had. The chicken was decent, and the steak had a strange aftertaste I couldn’t quite place.
Overall, I had mixed feelings. It didn’t quite live up to the hype or my expectations, but there were a few highlights along the way.
