Went by their drive through on a Saturday afternoon. Pretty decent line of cars, perhaps waited around 5-10 minutes to put our order in and get our custard, so not too bad. Employees had face coverings on (much appreciated!).

I tried their soggy bottom, which is basically vanilla custard, with peanut butter sauce and crushed oreos at the bottom. Portions are big. Prices are very reasonable. There was plenty of peanut butter on there (maybe a little too much?) and not enough oreos 🙁 but the flavors were good. They use the environmentally hazardous styrofoam type dishes which was really disappointing to see. Overall, a pretty average experience.

In response to what the owner has posted:
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my review. I really appreciate that.

It’s good IF the styrofoam is being recycled. But this is only if the customer makes the effort to dispose of the containers in a recycling bin. Styrofoam is a petroleum based product. Thus, its production and destruction (in landfills) is toxic to the environment. When exposed to certain levels of sun, it can burn releasing toxic chemicals into the air. Even hot liquids and foods can cause the partial breakdown of styrofoam, causing us to ingest harmful toxins.
There are some wonderful new materials out on the market that do not exact a toll on the environment or humans in its production or in its disposal (whether they are recycled or not!).

Every time I’m in Lafayette I make sure to pay a visit at the igloo, there’s a couple locations. Lots of summer nights with loved ones for some ice cream were spent here. My all time favorite would have to be a marshmallow vanilla (sometimes cherry too) COKE!!

So let me explain my scenario. I’ve never been here, but on my weekly visit to see my girlfriend she convinced me to come here, since it’s been so long since she’s been here I felt bad.

I get there and wait in the rough like a roller coaster drive thru line, wait 7mins to order to a 13-15 year old girl, which I don’t like because a lot of teens don’t have good skills for this type of job.

I see they have ribeye taco…. For $10…. So I ask the girl at the window what comes on it, and the cook tells me. I should’ve asked for more details because after waiting another 15min for 2 TACOS, I found out the meat was dry and had almost no taste. I was so upset over everything I lost my appetite.

My girlfriend who was the one who convinced to come is now just as equally disappointed and won’t be coming back, I wanted to go back and see if I could get a refund, but she ask me to save it and see if her family would want it. No one had a whole taco because it tasted that bad.

SUMMARY: A new customer is trying this local business out of pity for my loved ones good memories, orders 2 drinks and 2 tacos for $18 just for it to be ruined by our wait, unfriendly staff, weirdly aged staff, severe lack of taste and quality, and price of the food.

We paid 14 dollars for two small sundaes. If they’d at least been tasty, while still expensive, it would have been ok. They were out of butterscotch, the hot fudge tasted just like fake chocolate sauce, the customer service was just ok, and the tables were dirty. Not to mention that it was a really small portion.
Never again.

Definitely worth the stop, this afternoon. The tenderloin sandwich and fries were excellent and delicious. It’s a combo, with a nice weather day, as well.

We had to come here because Columbian Park has no food of their own and Arnis pizza is closed in Monday. I ordered popcorn chicken and two corn dogs for myself and my kids. Imagine my surprise when I opened my chicken, that I paid $7.50 for, and only had 7 pieces. This is not worth $1 per piece. I feel absolutely ripped off.

So many fond memories of this place from over the years. Stopped today for a treat. Introduced my husband to their sundae with butterscotch sauce and chopped pecans. Our dog shared a little of my vanilla scoop – and ate much more than usual. We appreciate having so many sizes as options for custard serving. Still such a fun treat!

Great old time custard and still that old vintage feel! Outside seating so your ice cream might melt if it’s a HOT July night. Always have to make a stop when I come back home.

We always love coming hear. It’s been a fantastic stop from when I was a kid until now. We live in Indy now but it’s always on our list of places to stop when in Lafayette. Easy parking and easy on and out. Perfect place for the family after visiting Columbian park or before or during .
