Hearty, down-home dishes served with genuine, old-fashioned friendliness make this spot really stand out. It’s the kind of place that instantly feels comfortable, and after just one meal, I can already tell it’s going to be a regular stop for breakfast.

Went on a Friday to try the catfish. My buddy got the tenderloin platter. The server who seated us was great. She was upbeat and thorough – walked us through all the daily specials, took our drink orders and made us feel welcome. The server who brought our drinks and waited on us was, well, let’s just say not as welcoming. With the uneven service aside, the catfish was okay, but a far cry from Jumpin’ Catfish in Olathe and Lee’s Summit. I tried the tenderloin and it was passable. The cornbread was better than average, but the serving of cole slaw was skimpy. I was surprised that our server didn’t even offer dessert – especially since their pie case was packed with a delicious array of choices.

We haven’t eaten here is a while and it’s usually pretty good but not today. This to go order was $26. The cinnamon roll was small, soggy and drowned in icing and butter. The tiny breakfast sandwich was almost $8. The flavor was ok. The sandwiches from QuikTrip are better. The biscuits and gravy meal was ok (my daughter ate it all) Maybe you get better food if you eat in?

Cute hometown feel. We went after church and while it was bustling we were able to find a seat and service was fast. We had breakfast it was about what you would expect from a small dinner. It seemed like our wait person was distracted by something. She was polite and got our order in a timely manner. She kind of did a half turn stare over her shoulder while talking to us a couple of times but we couldn’t see anything. I am not sure what was happening and hope everything was okay. There was someone (maybe the owner) that kindly checked in with us twice and brought is a piece of pie to try or take with is if we were full. We purchased ToGo cinnamon rolls after we finished our meal. They were delicious!

We stopped here for lunch, and had the 2 scramble dishes on the menu. The food was very comforting and filling. The green beans were amazing! The atmosphere was easy going and our server was friendly and attentive. Their hours are centered around breakfast and lunch with a few exceptions. We had a good enough experience that we’ll be back.

What a neat little cafe’ that’s intent on serving traditional, American home-style meals. The hot tenderloin sandwich was perfect from the meat to the mashed potatoes to the white gravy and bread on the bottom. I enjoyed the chocolate cream pie with meringue to finish my lunch. Wait staff was quick, efficient, and attentive. You should come here for a comfort food meal! They even have red and white checkered tablecloths to add to the homey decorating style of the restaurant.

How do I write this! I am a pancake lover. lol! When I see reviews best pancakes in town I go check it out. Their pancakes were gross. This place is literally in the middle of nowhere. 169 Cafe needs to take a bow. Their pancakes I swear to you the breakfast and ensemble was making me drool. I jumped in and the pancakes were so yummy not dry. I went here on my birthday it was awesome and delicious.

We had to repeat our order 3 times because she didn’t listen to what we said the first time. The toast was burnt. My husband got his food without mine. The food was cold. I won’t be back.
