Used to be great but they put in a kiosk wth a canned menu. I just wanted a bbq sandwich and hot dog bur kiosk presented full meal combo choices. I got tired of screwing around with automation and found an excellent deli on the same street with a human taking my order. I’ll try them again if they get rid of that stupid kiosk.

I used to go here all the time a few years ago for the Virginia BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. Made it back in there today for the first time in a few years and man was it disappointing. The service was great, but my Virginia BBQ sandwich tasted nothing like it used to and immediately made me think of Lloyd’s pulled pork you can get from Walmart. Definitely not terrible, but it isn’t the place I used to know and love.

Ordered from Uber Eats again. The last several times I’ve ordered the Collards and Green Beans had absolutely no seasoning at all. Today they had seasoning in the collards and the green beans were black from the amount of pepper (no other seasoning) in them. They have never once actually sent my drink with the Uber eats orders (today was no different) and they dont put the requested sauce on the sandwich or in the bag on the side.
The food here was amazing until about the last 6-7 months and its just gone down hill drastically since. Would not recommend ordering unless your gonna pick it up, only get the pulled pork (its gmreally good) and even them verify they got the order right before you leave.

We used to go to VA BBQ all the time. It’s been a while, so I picked some up for lunch today. It is clear that this establishment has changed hands since I was last there. The food was unedible… we ordered NC BBQ, hush puppies, baked beans, Mac & cheese, and tater tots. The oil that was used on tater tots and hush puppies was clearly rancid. Nothing else had much flavor. Very sad that such a great place is now so bad. We’ll never go back there again.

The owner is rude, you get food that’s different than described in the menus ex. If you order wings a certain flavor they come plain your expected put sauce on Them from bottles that have been sitting out who knows how long , there’s never soap in bathroom if it is it’s mostly water in the bottle , prices are high on everything.

Lake Side Barbeque is a hidden gem in Richmond. The food’s always on point, perfectly smoked meats, tender and full of flavor. The sides like the beans and fries hit just right too. It’s got that laid-back vibe that makes you feel at home. Great spot if you’re craving real BBQ done right.

Put my order in, waiting quite a bit. Asked for 1 VA BBQ and 3 chicken BBQ meals. All of the sandwiches looked exactly the same and he said they look different so I should be able to tell. Didn’t bother to mark the pork one for me. They all tasted like pork when I ordered 3 chicken. The portion sizes were all over the place, one sandwich had literally the smallest amount (see pic) and the other had a very hefty amount. Also gave me tater tot’s instead of hush puppies. Only thing that was decent was the banana pudding. Very disappointed and won’t be back, seemed like the staff was very confused from what I saw with many things.
