Honestly, I don’t know anything about the current Papa Joe’s — I have lived in New York City for 45 years and haven’t even visited Buffalo in 13 years — but Papa Joe’s is important to me because it once belonged to my grandfather, who established a bar there. I don’t know exactly when it was established, but it was already in operation in 1910 and he owned it through Prohibition, and passed away in 1935. My father was actually born upstairs – over 100 years ago! The bar has been in operation, under various ownership, for more than 100 years!! That’s something, I think! I grew up on Randolph Ave.
Will definitely stop by on my upcoming visit (whenever that will be, I don’t know but I am planning to go “home” some time soon.)
