I might have ordered the wrong thing and it was closing in 15 minutes but I drove a ways to get there thinking it was a restaurant I used to love but it wasn’t it only had the same name. If the beans aren’t good that ruins it for me

Pancho’s is consistently some of the best mex around. This has always been family owned, and other than a small lapse when Grandpa died (he ran the kitchen), you always get what you are anticipating. They make the best hard shell tacos!! Their food is so good that it’s something to crave when you are in the area.
It’s still the same, and I have been going since I was a kid…+/- 50 years.
There are no frills here and a very limited bottled beer selection.
The parking lot is fairly good size, but the entrance / exit is a bit challenging.
For what you get, they are very inexpensive. After getting used to $20 burger and fries at other restaurants, I am always pleasantly surprised when they bring the check.
Cash only, no cards accepted and closed on Mondays.

Ponchos is a legend in Long Beach. They have been in town for decades. I’ve been eating there since the 1980’s. The interior hasn’t changed much nor has the menu and really the prices are very reasonable. If you want some good Mexican food at a reasonable price swing in with your cash. No credit cards accepted!!

There’s a reason this hole in the wall eatery has survived so long, as well as through the pandemic. It’s just hands-down simple Mexican fare, and it’s delicious. Cash only. Their tacos a la cart are my favorite, alongside a bowl of the guacamole and a cup of their hot as the sun albondigas soup. I wish I could eat it right now.

Favorite authentic Mexican restaurant in Cali, even wish this place was in Vegas. The tacos are great and the enchiladas whether chicken or shredded beef are amazing, the enchilada sauce is perfect too. Always great service. Highly recommend if you want true mexican food, not the americanized mexican food
