Hearty comfort food… very good chicken francese, veg and potatoes were mediocre. Friend enjoyed her salad with salmon. Good service. Consistent and reliably good food.

A fixture in downtown Wurtsboro, this place has survived time’s test. Food very good, and the dessert of cheesecake was delicious. Bathroom clean and there is ample paved parking in front. On site is an automatic teller machine, a web-based juke box, and numerous plasmas displaying sports and other programming. Friendly waitstaff. There is a small “service fee” for dining at a table. On the wall next to the table are inoperable doorbells which used to summon the waitstaff to the corresponding tables.

10 years ago we used to love going to this place. Unfortunately it really declined. The last few times were not good. We decided to give it another go about 2 weeks ago. It was a Friday night. We walked in and it was a little busy waitresses and the waiter were running around. There was two people behind the bar. We stood there for a few minutes. Never even got greeted. I considered walking out and I wish I had. A waiter took our drink order and I asked him which appetizer he recommended. I’m not sure what he said as I could not understand him. He came back and I asked again. He said they are all good. A few minutes later a waitress comes over and said there was some confusion about whose table was whose or whatever and she would be taking care of us. She was very friendly and very nice. And the place was decorated so beautifully as always For Christmas. We had the steamers, and the calamari. The steamers were huge Chewy and gritty had absolutely no flavor. Unfortunately the calamari was undercooked. I really wanted the prime rib as it’s my favorite thing to order but the last two times I had it it was not good. So I decided on a hot open roast beef with a side of mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were cold. It’s so unfortunate because this place is so nostalgic and beautiful. I heard that there is new owners. I went on their Facebook page and there is no postings for like 3 years. My boyfriend had the Ruben and he enjoyed his sandwich. Like I said 10 plus years ago we would dine in weekly but unfortunately things started to go downhill and I’ve given it try after try after try. Now we will try some of the other local restaurants.

Been dying to try this place, since it’s very well known for the area. It’s on the first floor of a beautiful historic building and the ambiance of the seating/bar area is nice, dark and cozy. The server was very nice, but also very slow. The food itself was good – cooked well, good portions. Different pricing than the online menu, so they haven’t updated their pricing online, be aware. Everything was $3-4 more than what was listed online. Overall, it was ok but more average than I expected, considering how the locals rave about it. The place was empty, there were only 3 tables including us, so it definitely should not have taken us one hour and 30 min to eat a burger and pizza. We were pretty frustrated with the service, and the food was not good enough to excuse this, so I’m glad I finally checked it out but will probably not be coming back.

We ordered two burgers for take out. According to the menu on Google, the total was $21. The bill came to $37 cash. My husband was told they automatically add in a tip. I realize prices may have increased since the menu was posted, but they didn’t give my husband as receipt so i don’t know why we paid so much. The food was fine, burgers cooked a little too long, but that’s okay. What I don’t get is why should I be charged a tip? They sold me their product (lunch), I drove there and picked it up. No one waited on me. That alone will keep us from going back.

I have passed this place many times. Finally stopped for lunch and it was very good. I had the French Onion Soup and a cheeseburger. Place was not crowded at all — just me and some locals at the bar having lunch. I enjoyed it and would definitely go back. Always thought it was a cool old building.

So we came here after a long day of work. Our server was new his name was Hunter and he was an absolute delight! So attentive . He made sure we were completely taken care of. I ordered salmon and it was delicious. The bartender peter made the best seabreeze ! Everyone was so friendly. We will be back!

VERY enjoyable meal! So glad we went. Recommended to us by a coworker. Generous portions and absolutely delicious! Will definitely return. Want to save room for dessert next time. Service was very good too!

Air conditioning was too strong and blowing on us but she turned it down when we asked and checked back on us to see if it was better.
We ordered the bratwurst and a tuna salad sandwich. Not sure why it took so long for the food to arrive since neither of those should take long to assemble. A couple who ordered after us got their food first. Fries were nice and crispy though!
