It had to be an Italian restaurant; Chef Bruce Moffett knew it as soon as he stepped foot in “the Villa.” People had gathered in the historic home for good food, fine wine, and great company since the doors first opened in 1926, and he couldn’t wait to carry on that tradition with Stagioni: flavors and experiences made in the moment, steeped in the legacy of grand parties. The Villa was once home to world traveler and legendary hostess Blanche Reynolds Gormajenko. She was known for eccentricities: men reading poetry to her guests from the trees, a pool filled with Champagne, séances at the stroke of midnight. Today, Stagioni pays homage to her inspired standard of hospitality, good times, and grand theatrics.

Before I get started, funny story when I got there. The front door is a heavy, hardwood door. There were two adorable little girls standing at the door trying to get it open, but it was too heavy for them, so I pulled it open. They dashed inside without looking back squealing “Mommy mommy mommy!” I looked at the hostess and told her, “I have no idea whose kids those are.” She literally laughed out loud and thanked me for the best laugh she’d had all day.
That said, I gotta say, Stagioni wins the ambiance category. Dark with a cozy feel without feeling cramped, and not so dark you can’t read the menu. As usual, I sat at the bar. Sergio provided great service and was friendly and helpful. Bar is small with a small draft selection, but I found a lager I liked.
I got the meatball appetizer and the Rigatoni entree. The meatballs and sauce were fantastic, moist, with tremendous flavor. Only gripe is they were on the small side.
The rigatoni with braised short rib and fennel sausage was phenomenal. The quality of the food was top notch, and the taste was fantastic. Again, my only gripe was the serving size. When I placed my order I was worried I had gotten too much. The quantity was actually just right, but for $75 with 2 beers and tip, I expected a little more food.
Other than the price, everything was excellent. Not sure if it’s the best Italian in town, but it’s definitely near the top. I’ll definitely be back to try their pizza. Highly recommend the food, but surprisingly pricey for the portion size. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What stood out the most was CJ’s genuine warmth and positive energy. He clearly takes pride in his work, and it shows in the way he interacts with guests. Small details like checking back just at the right moment, remembering our preferences, and making sure everyone at the table felt taken care of, made the meal truly special.
