So when Chaska closed due to franchisee issues I was left wondering where to go. Only location near me was the Chanhassen one. Was willing to go for a little bit of a ride to either the one east of Excelsior, or the one in Shakopee like I said earlier they are now closed. I had a gift card that I wanted to use so off to Chanhassen I go.
Surprise surprise surprise the pizza was delicious. Hot, fresh, perfect leopard spots on the cheese.
I’m now thinking maybe they grew too fast and the franchise and crew just don’t follow the rules. I will be giving the Chan location another try as I feel this was a huge turn around for them.
I’ve eaten pizza from the backroads of Alabama to the bright lights of Nashville, but when I get a hankerin’ for something real, something bold, loud, and unapologetically Minnesota nice with a punch, I point my pickup straight toward Red’s Savoy.
This ain’t your foo-foo, wood-fired, artisan drizzled nonsense. No sir. This is square-cut, cheese-blanketed, sausage-loaded, sweet-‘n-spicy sauce slingin’ like a Telecaster on a Saturday night. That “Sota-style” they talk about? It’s the real deal. Crust that holds up like a steel-string, toppings piled higher than my mama’s hair in church, and enough zing in the sauce to make you do a little two-step right there in the booth.
Red’s don’t whisper flavor, they crank it up to 11, just like I do with my amps. And that first bite? That’s like hittin’ the chorus of “Family Tradition” with a full house singin’ along.
If you love pizza and ain’t tried Red’s yet… well, friend, you ain’t lived. This is bar pizza with attitude. The kind that sticks to your ribs and your memories. Makes you wanna write a song about it.
So grab a cold one, call up some buddies, and dive into the loudest, proudest pizza this side of the Mississippi.
Red’s Savoy: it’s not just pizzas, it’s a honky-tonk in a box.
