Ordered: chicken sandwich with fries and strawberry lemonade.
We decided to give this place a try because their menu has an impressive variety of vegan food. They serve everything from wings and fries to soup bowls to sandwiches to even vegan desert. We’ve tried a few items, but our favorite still remains the fake-meat “Tuna Melt”sandwich!
However, we aren’t huge fans of the Mac and “cheese”. We’ve had vegan cheese before, and it’s never like the original thing. But several places substitute milk with cashew/almond milk or other ingredients and manage to do it quite well. Unfortunately that’s not true at Veggie Grill. Their mac and cheese was borderline inedible. Also we weren’t terribly impressed with their fries either.. just in case you were thinking of adding them as sides.
So overall good main entrees and well-made meat substitutes. But I would stay away from their appetizers and sides..
Some of the staples I’ve had over the years is their cup of mac and cheese. Wow. I’ve never chosen something over French fries but this creamy cup of mild cheddar wins put every time. Every time I choose not to get mac and cheese my brain tells me I messed up.
I get the Buffalo Bomber rather regularly as I realized that was the best sandwich they have to offer me. Yes they have burgers and other sandwiches and there’s nothing wrong with liking them too.
This place has some decent Mexican options. My friends usually get them and are pleasantly surprised.
The only thing I will say is that it’s a restaurant with very little character and that’s okay. This isn’t a date night spot. It has the materials of a chiptole and the ambience to match. That’s ok.
My rating and review will be based on the Beyond Burger at this location:
I would not recommend the Beyond Burger. If you want to try BeyondMeat, you may as well do it at Carl’s Jr (I’ve tried the burger in both locations). The presentation of the Burger here was pretty sloppy. Buns were very mediocre and all it came with was a tomato and some lettuce. in addition, it was priced at almost double of what you find at Carl’s Jr. (where it was tastier as well).
In general, people seem to like the food at Veggie Grill and you should definitely try it for yourself. The Matcha Horchata drink had a really interesting flavor and seemed fairly popular. Join the rewards program for 5-8$ in credits at veggie grill after your first purchase (can be anything, even just a drink for 2-3$).
This is a pricier place, 6-10$ for small dish (chili cheese fries, etc), and 10-15$ for your main. It’s healthy though!
First I would like to start off with, I am no vegan or vegetarian. I love eating meat and I am not stopping but if I did I would go here every day.
I tried their steakhouse burger with fries. It’s great, the burger did have that smoke flavor to which did surprise me, the Patty was thick and it felt like a regular burger which is awesome if you think about it. The fries… Well their just fries.
I would recommend to get a drink and taste their strawberry lemonade. The lemonade is sweet so I recommend to mix it with their cucumber water, which does reduce the sweetness by a lot.
The only thing I will say that I didn’t like as much was there bacon I guess… I am assuming it was bacon, it tasted a bit burnt… I. Not sure if that’s how it’s cooked to bring out that bacon flavor but it was ok.
I would recommend anyone to try this area out, even meat eaters, why would you?
Because it’s healthier, and not just that if you are trying to lose weight, the burger it’s self only has 500 calories, so it’s worth it.
