Shin’s Sushi used to be one of our favorite Sushi restaurants.

We came here for Sushi but instead of eating fish, this time we ate a large quantity of rice.

I appreciate the hard work the sushi chef put into the meal, but it didn’t quite suit our palate.

The $24.99 all-you-can-eat sushi course is very difficult. There are too many rules you must follow. Otherwise, you will get charged a lot of money.

Thank you for the delicious-looking teriyaki chicken but it’s not quite to my taste. I wish it were hot and the chicken was tender, and not too dry.

The sushi rolls’ plate presentation was beautiful. However, the fried shrimp inside the Ninja roll was a bit tough. The Banzai roll wrapped with the soft shell crab had a strong smell and taste.

Overall, the all-you-can-eat sushi may not be suitable for everyone. We had a hard time making orders. But other than that it might still be convenient to try many different dishes.

The sushi was good, not great but the service was terrible. The waitress was nice but the cooking staff and the othet male server were slow and forgot to put our order in. We got 4 plates in 1.5 hours. The chefs spend more time talking and messing around that working.

Its also very dirty, sticky floors, the walls are visibly dirty there was even a dead fly stuck to a greasy door that read “trash room” in the middle of the dining area.

If the eating area is dirty, how bad is the kitchen we cant see??

Chef’s inappropriate language, subject matter, and loud talk/shouting- left servers apologizing to guests, even after they were aware of the issue. Alone- a reason to not return. Round 2 of order took 40 min. asked for check and left after, as order was only 1/3 filled. Other reviewers stating “mid range quality and a “once in a while visit” seems fairly accurate. Table service staff were great and overall food quality was worth a visit. Improved environment (music/noise) and back staff issues (especially mocking other languages/cultures), and perhaps it’ll be a more frequent local hangout.

To start off there was a 45 minute que. I saw there were seats open but whatever. After we finally got in, they took 25 minutes until they asked us what we would like to drink and eat. They brought out the drinks fairly quick but our food wasnt the same. We were two people and didnt even order munch on the all you can eat but they still took 30 minutes yo prepare the food. It took us over an hour and a half to even start eating. There were only 2 waitresses and it was inconsistent since it was two different ones attending us. One of them seemed super annoyed. The food wasn’t all that great either. The sushi was bland didnt even come with any sauce toppings. After we ate and were gonna go for out second round, they said it would be a 45 min wait and i was not going to wait that long. We ended up leaving after the first round. On top of all this the area just feels bland and no special at all. The walls are empty and there is no decoration around. It felt stale. All in all, the all you can eat is fine but very understaffed as there were two total waitresses and 1 chef. If youre going to have an all you can eat at least properly hire staff. Most likely wont be coming back here

We got the $25 all you can eat deal. The menu had many diverse options for foods and the choices for food become more varied with every next tier of all you can eat. Everything was delicious and even though there is technically a 90mjn limit for all you can eat deal, we did not feel rushed out and were never pushed to leave when approaching that mark. Very comfortable and cozy atmosphere with nice staff.

Best sushi spot in SLO! Sam is the man. If you get a chance to sit at the sushi bar, do. I went by myself to grab a quick lunch and left with a few friends. Great atmosphere, great food and cool people.

My friend and I each paid 35 dollars each for the all you can eat. It took forever for them to get us our food, and one of the servers was rude. I have food allergies, not by choice, and you would think that they could take the sauce off the rolls upon request. They acted as though that was the hardest thing to do and it was too much to ask for. They were unwilling to accommodate. I won’t be coming back.

The sushi was good but not memorable. The all you can eat is weird…. You have to buy the highest level at $54.99/person if you want actual sushi and not just selected rolls and appetizers. There was a +$20 price difference for sushi. I will likely not return for all you can eat, but would maybe order a couple selected rolls. With drinks our meal for 4 was in excess of $250.

The food was great. I am a sushi enthusist, and the fish on the Nignigiri was amazing, fresh, and more actual fish than any other that I have had. The uni and sweet scallops were fantastic!
Our server Kenny was terrific, good character, and very helpful.
We will be back!

3 Jan 2026. Ordered all you can eat. Nice staff who answered all questions and were polite and engaging.

Skip if you want good sushi. If value is your goal, maybe still skip.
