We recently visited Sophra Grill in Murray Hill and really enjoyed the experience overall. This place feels like a true neighborhood gem, warm, family-run, and focused on authentic Turkish and Mediterranean flavors rather than fancy presentation or trendy gimmicks.

The atmosphere is cozy and casual, with only a handful of tables and a welcoming vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. The staff were friendly, helpful, and patient in explaining the menu. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a comforting meal without feeling rushed.

We decided to share a few dishes, the mixed grill platter (which included lamb, chicken, and beef kebabs), a red lentil soup, and a few vegetarian sides. They also brought out complimentary Turkish bread, which was a nice touch, though it wasn’t particularly fresh that day. Everything else arrived hot and nicely presented. The chicken adana kebab stood out, flavorful, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, while the chicken kebab was tender and well-grilled. The red lentil soup was smooth, hearty, and well-balanced in flavor.

For dessert, we tried the baklava, which was excellent, light, flaky, and not overly sweet, just the way it should be. Portions here are generous, and prices are quite reasonable for the quality and portion size, making it a great value overall.
If there’s one small note, it’s that the restaurant can feel a bit tight during peak hours since it’s a compact space. But honestly, that adds to its charm, it feels personal, genuine, and homey, which is hard to find these days.

Overall, Sophra Grill is an excellent spot for authentic Turkish cuisine served with care and consistency. Whether you’re craving kebabs, grilled meats, or vegetarian dishes, you’ll find something delicious here. Definitely worth visiting, and I’d happily come back again for the mixed grill platter and baklava!

Perfect ambience, friendly staff and amazing dishes. Peaceful atmosphere with warm light and calm music. Staff is friendly and they do pay attention to whatever you request. We had Iskander and chicken gyro. Iskander we had was well balanced and delicious, but I won’t be able to say the same for chicken gyro. If you like good seasoning and delicious chicken i would say pass it on this time. But meat is 100% way to go here . Amazing stuff. It also could be preference with chicken( you may like your chicken unseasoned or plain ish) . Thank you for having us today here everyone ❤️

This was a delicious, authentic Turkish experience – the food was fresh, phenomenal and filling – if anything the photos don’t do it justice.

Ask for oil over the Iskender for the full experience, and the lahmacun is the real deal. They homemake their own ayran as well.

They were also unbelievably attentive and lovely to us.

One of the best Turkish meals I’ve ever had, including in Turkey.

Absolutely amazing spot for Turkish food in Murray Hill. It was close to my hotel, so I figured to stop in. I’m so glad I did. I got to try a variety of different items, inducing: ayran, chicken Adana sandwich on home bread, Turkish tea, and rice pudding.

The ayran was probably the best I’ve ever had in my life. It was so refreshing, the perfect amount of salt, so good. And it’s homemade. I would highly recommend you try this drink regardless of what you order, it’s that good.

The chicken Adana sandwich was also quite nice. The chicken was fresh and well seasoned in a good portion with some lettuce, onions, tomatoes as well. The bread was great. It’s served with two wonderful, flavorful sauces: hot sauce and yogurt sauce (I much prefer the latter). Portion is incredible for the price.

Then, I was initially interested in trying the fig pudding for dessert but they were out of it, so I went with the rice pudding. Again, a huge portion that is well worth the price. So creamy, so good. And, they brought out 2 Turkish teas for free to make up for not having the fig! The people are just very nice here, and the tea was also lovely, piping hot and just perfect.

It’s a pretty small restaurant but doesn’t get crowded early on. They were playing some Turkish music while I ate, and I really enjoyed it. The people are very kind and attentive and the food is just incredible. Must try!

Probably my favorite Turkish spot from recent discoveries. Get the mixed grill from the lamb section, it’s excellent. You get different types of meat and they are each so flavorful. The staff is very hospitable and kind too. Hands down a fantastic neighborhood spot. Love the casual and inviting atmosphere.

This is a nice Turkish Restaurant easy to see right of 2nd Ave serving the LES and the adjacent area of Manhattan. Small dining room. Traditional Turkish Menu. Mixed Grill plate, Donner, and Lac Majun are all good. Nice staff. Manhattan prices so bring credit cards . Give this place a try if you’re in the area. We will definitely be going back.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sophra Grill, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! This spot offers some of the best Turkish cuisine in NYC, with fresh, flavorful dishes and exceptional service.

The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a relaxed yet authentic vibe that made us feel right at home. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal.

For the main course, we ordered the cheese pide, which was phenomenal—crispy yet soft, with the perfect amount of melted cheese and buttery goodness. But the real star of the show was the mix grill platter—an absolute must-try! It came with a variety of perfectly grilled meats, including juicy lamb chops, flavorful kebabs, and tender chicken. Every bite was packed with smoky, well-seasoned goodness, and the portion size was generous enough to satisfy even the hungriest of diners.

To finish, they actually gave us tea on the house. Their aromatic Turkish coffee was essential part of any post meal.

Overall, Sophra Grill exceeded all expectations. The food was outstanding, the service was warm and welcoming, and the entire dining experience was truly enjoyable. Whether you’re a fan of Turkish cuisine or looking to try something new, this place is a must visit. Can’t wait to come back!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Turkish restaurant after a less-than-satisfactory experience at another local place, and it completely rekindled my love for Turkish cuisine here in NYC. This restaurant has become my number one choice for authentic Turkish food. I particularly enjoyed the sutlac and lahmacun, which were both delicious. I even packed up some extras to take home! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in exploring Turkish cuisine.

The culinary experience was exceptional. The Turkish dishes were authentic and delectable. The restaurant itself had a worn-out appearance, but the sight of locals enjoying it compelled me to give it a try.
