“While other restaurants keep raising prices and losing customers, La Maria’s is winning — excellent food, fair prices, and a place people are still coming to. I’ve been coming to Puerto Peñasco for 40 years, and this is the best new spot I’ve seen in a long time. The food is outstanding, the service is welcoming, and the prices are exactly what this struggling town needs. Other restaurants sit empty while La Maria’s is alive with customers — proof that great food and fair prices are the real recipe for success.” I’ve done breakfast lunch and dinner there and all was excellent.

The staff is friendly to speak to but un-attentive. I sat at the bar and there didn’t seemed to be an assigned bartender. Also be careful about the drinks. I ordered a Bloody Mary the was on the menu for $5 but then got charged $10. The waiter asked me what vodka I would like but neglected to mention that there’s $5 up charge for anything other than house vodka. Finally the food took too long to be served, at the bar mind you, and the portions were small and lacked flavor. It’s ashamed that as friendly and nice the environment is, the food and service fails.

What a pleasant find! My husband and I came here for dinner and really enjoyed the service, the food and drinks. The ambience is average but you get the waiter talking and now you’re discovering a tequila reposado since 1942! The mole is a perfect combo of savory and sweet. The food is gourmet and with the right company, the meal is transformed from sustenance to experience. We really enjoyed this place more than any of the other restaurants we tried here in Puerto Penesco. Check it out and decide for yourself.

It is always a pleasure to eat at La Maria. The shrimp tacos are my favorite. Yet, I’ve eaten many dishes and I am yet to be disappointed. The cream corn chowder dish is delicious.

Misleading…I asked ahead of time what their special entailed it sounded great. 4 beers and a plate of food during live music. Came to find 4 beers were only ‘tastings’, 2 oz pours. I asked if my girlfriend could get vegetarian plate, but no, that costs extra. If I had known ahead of time I probably would have passed. Maybe a communication issue, not sure, I spoke with both the host and the bar manager. I don’t fault the server, service was ok otherwise.
