So-so experience. Staff were polite and kind. Tea was served right away. Ordering was quick and easy. The place was clean, bright, and well-maintained. The food was pretty bad. The fried veggie spring rolls just tasted like old oil. The pad thai only had a couple rubbery squid/shrimp bits and no vegetables. It tasted like ketchup. Cannot recommend those items.

Again, the people were kind, the food came quickly, the place was clean—but the pad thai was abysmal. At $26 before tip for the fried noodle combo it definitely felt like a waste of money.

Yesterday, my kids and I had lunch at your restaurant. The soup was absolutely delicious, and my kids especially enjoyed the spring rolls and shrimp rolls. We had a wonderful dining experience. However, I accidentally left my wallet at the restaurant when paying the bill and didn’t realize it was missing until this afternoon around 4 PM.

Feeling anxious, I called the restaurant to ask about it. Your patience and kindness truly touched me. You reassured me not to worry and told me that my wallet was safely kept. When I arrived to retrieve it, I was relieved to find that all my IDs were intact. What moved me even more was that the $5,000 in cash inside was completely untouched! In a world where honesty and kindness can sometimes feel rare, your integrity and generosity deeply touched my heart and set a wonderful example for my children.

Thank you for not only making great food with care but also for treating your customers with love and sincerity. I sincerely wish your restaurant great success and prosperity!

2nd Gen Viet-Canadian who grew up eating at ALL of Toronto’s best OG spots: 5 Stars!!

The pho I ordered came with rare beef, brisket, beef balls and tendon. All of it was amazingly done. The rare beef came at the perfect doneness— where the center of the top pieces was still rare (which you can cook more in the hot broth as desired!). The brisket was tender and the right amount of fattiness. Tendon was soft, flavorful, and a good compliment to the chewy beef. The beef balls were filled with flavor whilst having a reserved amount of fattiness so as to keep the flavor rich and dense.

The noodles were PERFECT. Thin, chewy, and boiled to the exact texture of pho that I love.

The broth was wonderful. I added chopped Thai chili peppers and chili satay. Note: their chili satay is worth the extra price. They make an earthy, slightly sweet and savory chili sate that adds a wonderful depth to your meal.

For appetizers I tried their spring roll and minced shrimp on sugar cane. The spring rolls texture was nice and golden with a crispy outside. The shrimp sugar cane was really fun to eat. As you bite off the shrimp you bite into the sugar cane for a nice contrast to the fish sauce.

5/5 and every review that is any less, is obviously not a Vietnamese person.

I was there about a week ago. Their vegetable fried spring rolls, 602 on the menu, were spectacular. I could eat them all day. Their tofu pad thai was disappointing. Very plain, no veggies and the sauce was bland. I wouldn’t order it again. But great experience otherwise.

Worst experience we’ve had dining. I don’t usually leave Google reviews but this time around I felt compelled to. Calamari was extremely overcooked. Ordered fresh rolls and the peanut sauce was clearly expired and sour. My boyfriend ordered a beef stir fry which he asked for extra spicy and it came out sweeter than a pop tart. Once we addressed this with our waiter he was extremely argumentative. We asked for our meals to be packed up (he didn’t offer a discount nor for our meals to be removed from the bill) and we went to another restaurant extremely displeased with our previous experience. Would not ever go here again.

Yes folks, crickets. Lunch hour at Ben Thanh, empty, smelling like cockroach spray. The service? Impersonal. The food? Underdeveloped flavours, too salty, skimpy on proteins, simply rushed with no heart. And, the cook asked, “Is everything alright?” I said no and explained why. No comment. Crickets. Then, the bill. No comment. Crickets. Yeah.

Ordered the avocado rolls, mango rolls and the spring rolls.
Overall okay. I would love to try more things though. It had a nice ambience and looked peaceful.

Normally, I would scoff at signs that would say “best in town.” Mostly because I end up disappointed or suffer buyers remorse. For once, I do not doubt it one bit. It really does deserve the mantle.

The food is excellent, and I would bring anyone here if they are interested in trying something new. I have no complaints whatsoecer. And I look forward to trying everything they have to offer.

This will be the last time ordering from here. It has become expensive and disappointing. The last three times ordering the beef rolls, they have come like a noodle salad. They over pack them with noodles and limp lettuce and almost no beef and they are never rolled when we get home with them. Super disappointing after enjoying this place for so many years.

I’ve loved Ben Thanh since 2006. No place in Canada makes the Laksa the way they do. Seafood Laksa is a must try here. Everything else is good, but the seafood Laksa is absolutely fantastic.
