If you didn’t already know, Post Commons has added two tenants to the building. They now share this grand old post office with, Good News Brewing Company and CJ’s Juicery. However, this review is about them, so let me focus on them only.
If you go to Post Commons, you gotta get a biscuit. Their biscuits are homemade and they are delicious. My personal favorite biscuit sandwich is the Sausage. In addition to the sausage patty, it has cream cheese and pepper jam. The pepper jam is what really makes this sammie special.
If you’re wanting a more hearty breakfast, you can create your own plate with items from the A La Carte menu. I’ve created one with two scrambled eggs, bacon and breakfast potatoes. The potatoes are cut into little cubes and fried to a crispy golden color.
It’s a great place to meet friends for a cup of coffee. The staff is cordial and makes you feel welcomed. Why go to a chain coffee shop, when you have a unique one in a old post office building? There is, no reason to go.

Spacious venue — the old post office repurposed into a coffee shop / cafe. The food was good, but I think the real attraction is the retro nostalgic setting and atmosphere…comfortable and airy. I’m not a coffee drinker so I can’t comment about that.

Post Commons is amazing! The atmosphere is unique & comforting. Food is delicious & comforting. & the workers are just as comforting as the vibes & food lol. A staple spot to go to whether you’re an Altonian or just passing by, it is a MUST!!

I have been coming here for years. It’s one of my favorite coffee shops in the area!
There are so many things that make Post Commons special. The spacious interior that is perfect for working or catching up with friends, the delicious coffee and food (I love the breakfast burritos), the comfy couches and seemingly unlimited seating, and friendly service make this one of my go-to cafes.

This is a great place for brunch! The atmosphere is great, and they have a separate room if you want to rent it for events. This is in an old post office, which adds to the charm! The service was great, but remember you bus your own table. I would definitely be going back for some more brunch!

Such a cool space in the old Post Office. Elevated coffee house vibe with total respect and love for the building’s history. So Alton! HANNAH is the GM and she is an amazing host. Knowledge and willing to share ingredients and labels as she helped me order Gluten/Dairy/Sugar free. We had yummy greens with eggs and turkey sausage (hold the croutons). The poppyseed vinaigrette was dairy free and just perfect. My matcha latte and Clyde’s coffee latte were delicious. Troy had pizza and he loved the crust ( he had regular but they DO offer GF crust AND vegan cheese!). Sam’s French Toast looked amazing in all its gluten-filled glory. We also tried the immunity shots from CJ’s Juicery and they were dynamite.
If we still lived here full time I’d be making the drive over from STL once a week for that breakfast salad and matcha. The menu is varied and thoughtful, altho I would love to see them find a way to offer at least one gluten free bread (I bet their avocado toast rocks!). I understand it is not an easy undertaking for small kitchens to manage proper handling of GF if it’s not their focus. However I promise those on a restricted diet can absolutely find something here due to Hannah’s expertise.

This was a great place, lots of food options with vegan and vegetarian options, a juice bar, boba, coffee. They have a nice play area for kids downstairs which was cool. The whole atmosphere was cool. The restairant is inside an old post office building.

A really great atmosphere and cool place to spend some time!
We went on a Saturday late morning, and it was very busy.
The staff were super friendly but probably overwhelmed by the number of people. Our food took quite a while to get to us but was good once it came.
If you don’t have time to wait I’d recommend going on a weekday. If you’re not in a rush, find a window seat and enjoy the view!

There is no other place like Post Commons. You get a unique cafe experience that offers delicious food, yummy drinks, and occasional live music and events. It’s truly one of a kind, and you’re in an old, historic post office?! It’s so cool. And you get a great view of the river. Love Post! Highly recommend.
