It was a nice restaurant. I ordered a lamb shank (kabuli polo) which was cooked very well.

The taste of the food was kind of nostalgic to me. I guess their chef was cooking in ceremonies! (just to clarify, that’s a compliment actually).

So, yeah, the food was great. I liked it a lot.

This was unfortunately one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had. I chose this restaurant based on a recommendation and was expecting a quality Afghan dining experience, but it did not meet expectations.

The kebab was served cold and appeared poorly prepared, with excessive fat and very little care in cooking. The beef paya seemed as though it had been prepared well in advance and simply reheated, lacking freshness and flavor. The only positive aspect of the meal was that the staff were polite and kindly prepared the eggs exactly as requested.

Additionally, due to the rain, there was water leaking from the ceiling inside the dining area, which further affected the overall dining environment.
Considering the total cost of $101, the overall quality and value were far below what one would reasonably expect. I had several other dining options and chose this establishment believing it would offer authentic, well-prepared Afghan food, which made the experience particularly disappointing.

I offer this feedback respectfully in hopes that the owner will take steps to improve food quality, facility conditions, and overall freshness. Afghan cuisine has a strong and respected culinary reputation, and maintaining that standard is important for both customers and the community.

Café Laziz in Dallas:

We had an amazing dining experience at Café Laziz in Dallas! From start to finish, everything was delicious and satisfying. We ordered Kabuli Palaw, Pacha, Kabab, and for dessert, the traditional Watani Shiryakh—each dish was full of authentic flavor and freshly prepared.

One of the best parts is the variety of meals available on the menu—you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. And impressively, they prepare everything fresh and have it ready in about 20 minutes!

I highly recommend this place to everyone, especially foodies who love Afghan cuisine or are looking to try something new. Great taste, fast service, and a welcoming atmosphere—Café Laziz truly delivers!

So I really was craving Nihari. I had heard this place had good Nihari. Firstly, it wasn’t fresh, I can hear them defrosting it. It even looked defrosted. If you can’t make fresh food, don’t open a restaurant man. But, I still moved forward and gave it a shot. However, whatever I had was anything but Nihari. Nihari has a very distinct taste. This had no taste, it was just weird. Also, the naan, isn’t naan either. It’s warmed up packaged wheat naan from the store which they are warming up. Sigh…..

We found Cafe Laziz on accident about a year and a half ago and we’ve visited as many times as possible. The food is always absolutely amazing, super tasteful and always hot. Everyone is so kind and they’ve helped explain a few of the menu items when we first started visiting. This visit we tried the samosas for the first time (we’re from ETX and don’t have any Eastern food options) and they were so good! The atmosphere is a blast, too. It feels cozy but it’s also clean. Cafe Laziz is worth the 2 hour drive every single time. We recommend the butter chicken, chicken biryani, and the beef samosas!

I usually don’t leave bad reviews because i feel bad and I don’t want to hurt the restaurant, but I was a little disappointed with this place. I really wanted to like this but I’m not going to lie, I was not a fan of the butter chicken. It was very very oily and the chicken in it was crunchy, it seemed like it was not fully cooked or maybe just not good quality chicken. I couldn’t eat anymore of the chicken. Also, I placed my order online before I left for lunch break and on the website it says to give about 15-20 minutes wait time. Well I placed the order at 12:05pm and left around 12:25-12:30pm and when I got there, around 12:40pm, the food was still not ready, which was fine but then they took another 10 minutes. It’s not a big deal, I know they are busy and only maybe 2-3 people back in kitchen, but I was more disappointed in the food than anything. Aside from the butter chicken being very very oily, the taste of it wasn’t bad, maybe 3/5, but the chicken was not good. And it’s honestly too pricey for a butter chicken that doesn’t come with rice, it was $13.99 just on its own and thankfully I bought garlic bread to eat with it. I’m sad because I wanted to like this place and the manager/cashier was very friendly and nice, but I was left disappointed. So I give it 3/5 stars.
