Broth, meats, and veggies were extremely fresh and generously portioned. Also the meatballs were very flavorful, unlike a lot of pho places where they are bland. Tendon was exceptionally tender, and tripe has just the right snap.
Summer rolls were huge and tightly wrapped, and the thoughtfully wrapped in plastic wrapso they didn’t dry out. Lots of peanut sauce was provided and also wrapped to prevent spillage. I order summer rolls often and no one has ever wrapped them up for take out so well, but now I can’t unsee it – it makes so much sense. I had to take care of my dog and didn’t get to eat at my airbnb nearby until 2 hours later and then wrapping the rolls really kept them fresh for that whole time, and everything else was still warm. I did reheat the broth and poured it over the pho base ingredients. The noodles sprung back to life.
Well done, crew! (Sorry for the bad photos, I started eating…)
The restaurant feels clean and welcoming, though a stronger kitchen exhaust fan would help with the smoke from the grill, almost an open kitchen next to the tables. Overall, it’s a satisfying spot to curb cravings for authentic Vietnamese food right here in a small Pennsylvania town.
Seated right away, but then 10 minutes for our order, 20 more for the food to arrive, then another 15 after we finished for our server to ask if we needed boxes – and probably only because they had to come out of the kitchen as other clients arrived.
May go back for the food, and hope the service tonight was just “off”.
the menu was limited. it said to be their trial menu and the nice lady who worked there said they’ve been only opened for both a month now. it is a full all hands on deck establishment. got the family all involved and helping out.
had my usual: phở special w the Vietnamese iced coffee. large bowl came out pretty large w piping hot broth. the meats, majority of them, were a la carte on the side – interesting. from the look of them, I can tell I wasn’t going to be full…and I was correct. broth had good flavor. mild, but definitely hints of the spices. threw all the trimmings and condiments in there and it was enough.
for me, the star of the show was the iced coffee. it is SO hard to find real, authentic Vietnamese iced coffee or something closed. this 1 is legit. it’s made to order so no drip needed. they offered an extra bottle of condensed milk if it’s too strong or bitter but I thought it was perfect. so perfect that I got another 1 to go so I can walk out w 2 coffees in my hands.
the place is cozy. people were warm and friendly. always love supporting local businesses and glad I found this place. wish them all the success. I will definitely be back if I’m ever nearby.
