I usually prejudge a restaurant based on their guacamole, maybe that’s wrong of me, but I do it anyway. And let me tell you: Katrina’s Mexican Kitchen absolutely blew me away. Their guacamole isn’t just good, it’s way better than Chipotle, and I don’t say that lightly. The consistency was spot on: creamy with just the right amount of texture, packed with perfectly ripe avocado, fresh lime, and vibrant cilantro. I placed my order at 8PM, an hour before they closed, and the guacamole was still insanely fresh. That kind of quality late in the night is rare and says everything about how seriously this kitchen takes its food.
From there, the experience only got better.
I ordered a burrito, and everything about it was executed with precision. The flour tortilla was soft and warm with just the right amount of chew. The ratio of meat to rice to beans, onions, and cilantro was perfect, nothing dominated, everything complemented. Each bite delivered layers of flavor that tasted thoughtfully balanced and deeply satisfying.
But what really sets Katrina’s apart are the incredible sauces that come with your order. These aren’t generic throw-ins, these are handcrafted, authentic Mexican salsas that showcase the chef’s commitment to real flavor. The habanero salsa? Next-level spicy, a solid level 10 on the heat scale, but still rich and nuanced, not just hot for the sake of it. The red salsa had a deep, smoky complexity, and the green salsa, though mild, was bright and flavorful with every ingredient shining through. You can taste the chilies, the fresh herbs, and the skill behind every recipe.
To finish things off, I tried two tacos, carne asada and al pastor, and they were both phenomenal. The carne asada was tender, delicately seasoned, and cooked perfectly, served with fresh onions and cilantro on a warm tortilla that had just the right amount of char. The al pastor was juicy, flavorful, and had that signature punch of spice and sweetness that makes the dish so crave-worthy.
But beyond just the food, the best thing about Katrina’s Mexican Kitchen is the authenticity. You can tell everything is made in-house, from the rice and beans to the fresh-cut limes and every salsa they serve. It’s real Mexican cooking, done with care, passion, and precision.
I would recommend this spot to absolutely anyone looking for the real deal. Katrina’s doesn’t just serve great food, they set the standard.
A drink was 28 cents more and most plates were at least a dollar more than listed on the menu. And i was not looking at their lunch or weekend menu, I was looking at how much an item costed full price and drinks and food was marked up by up to 2 dollars more??? Recommend checking your bill to see if it matches the prices.
Small quantity of food, the soda is not refillable and I found it expensive overall.
However, my family split the three taco plate with rice and beans. They said the carne asada was perfectly cooked and no fatty pieces.
And the plate shown is what is leftover of the wet green chili burrito; everything was juicy and full of flavor.
We will be back.
